ACTIVE GRANT PROGRAMS

The Arts and Cultural Equity Grant program will support up to eight emerging creative artists and leaders – who work on behalf of or within communities of color – with funding and training to increase the impact of their work. The program is designed to promote cultural awareness and understanding of the diverse racial and ethnic communities that comprise Sonoma County.

An education in the arts is an essential and necessary part of every student’s development.  Funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, these awards will support Sonoma County public school districts to create an arts education plan or present a student-featured arts showcase.

This grant program is designed to help sustain Sonoma County’s arts and culture nonprofit organizations and to demonstrate the power of the arts to contribute to the social cohesion of our communities. Applications are being solicited to advance that broad objective, with focus on either county-wide, neighborhood, or youth impact.

ArtSurround is a new collaborative effort among the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to enhance Sonoma County’s creative vitality by supporting artists and infusing the arts into our public realm.

Initially created in response to the 2017 Northern California Wildfires, Creative Sonoma initiated multiple recovery and response grant opportunities for creatives and creative organizations and businesses. This program is opened whenever Creative Sonoma is able to provide relief, recovery or response funding as a response to a local disaster, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

ARCHIVED GRANT PROGRAMS

This program supported new and innovative ideas that engaged underserved Sonoma County students, ages 2-18, through providing access to high-quality arts education. Learn more HERE

The COVID-19 Arts Relief Grants for Organizations (CARGO) Program has been established as a partnership between the Community Foundation Sonoma County and Creative Sonoma, to provide relief to Sonoma County nonprofit arts organizations that have sustained economic losses due to COVID-19 and the resulting business and community health restrictions.

The County of Sonoma established a one-time fund to be administered by Creative Sonoma to support cultural arts activities across Sonoma County. Learn more HERE.

Respect, credibility and visibility for some of Sonoma County’s lesser known visual and literary artists are the goals of the Discovered program. Learn more HERE.

Helping our local musicians advance their careers to the level that they can continue to make us happy while making themselves money is the purpose of the Next Level Grants. Learn more HERE

This opportunity funded projects that were temporary creative experiences, installations, or objects that were accessible and/or located in public places or within public view. Learn more HERE.

This program was designed to support our creative organizations who foster creativity in our local youth while giving them opportunities to maintain learning while school is out of session, as well as providing opportunities to attend high quality cultural arts summer programs. Learn more HERE.

This program paid teaching artists to provide no-cost residencies to Sonoma County K-12 public and charter schools through December 2019. The residencies are based on best practices of trauma-informed arts instruction to build resilience and encourage empathy. Learn more HERE.
