Sonoma County Arts Education Survey Project

The Arts Education Alliance (AEA) is a growing coalition of educators, arts organizations, and artists who believe that every student deserves access to arts education. We know the arts demonstrate an undisputed power to improve students’ test scores and graduation rates, enhance their job readiness, and change their lives for the better. And that makes Sonoma County a better community for all of us.

We have launched an assessment of the state of arts education in Sonoma County schools. Administrators, teachers, parents, arts organizations with education programs, and education funders will be surveyed during Winter-Spring 2017. Students will be surveyed in a focus group format, versus the online survey.

*For Arts Organizations, we recommend having the following information available before completing the survey:

  • Number of students served in pre-k, elementary, middle and high school levels
  • Hours spent providing arts education by discipline
  • Percentage of school-site programs are after school, in-school, or other
  • Percentage of non-school-based programs that are ongoing classes, stand-alone workshops, and/or camps

Following the analysis of the assessment data, the AEA will move into a planning phase to address gaps identified in the survey process. If you would like to be updated on the progress and be alerted to any opportunities to participate, please join the AEA mailing list HERE.
