Charya Burt Choreography, Dance, Other, Professional Performance, Teacher/Instructor Charya Burt is an acclaimed master dancer, choreographer, vocalist and teacher of Classical Cambodian Dance. After the Khmer Rouge genocide, Burt trained extensively with Cambodia’s foremost surviving dance masters, eventually joining the dance faculty of Cambodia’s Royal University of Fine Arts. As a member of Cambodia’s Royal Dance Troupe, she toured internationally. Since emigrating in 1993, Burt has performed her works throughout the nation at venues including Jacob’s Pillow, San Francisco Opera House, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and many others. A true culture bearer, Burt has conducted workshops at schools and colleges around the country. Burt has devoted her life to reviving classical Cambodian dance through preserving authentic movements, gestures and dances of the classical repertory, thus helping to strengthen a sense of cultural identity for Cambodian-Americans. She has trained thousands of dance students throughout California including multiple stints as artist-in-residence at Cambodian cultural centers in Stockton, San Jose, and Khmer Arts Academy in Long Beach. A Hewlett 50 Commission was awarded her in 2021 to create The Rebirth of Apsara: Artistic Lineage, Cultural Resilience and the Resurrection of Cambodian Arts from the Ashes of Genocide. An inaugural Dance/USA and 2022 Americans for the Arts Johnson Fellow and Isadora Duncan Award recipient for Individual Performance, Burt has received multiple grants from the Center for Cultural Innovation, Creative Work Fund, and Alliance for California Traditional Arts including their Living Cultures Grant (2021) to create the Charya Burt Cambodian Dance Digital Library. Her recent choreographic works include Silenced (2018), Of Spirits Intertwined (2018), and Heavenly Garden (2016). As a teen she acted, and was a make-up artist, poet, essayist, and ballroom dancer, and in young adulthood, she was a tango dancer and professional performing artist as an Art Model for artists working for Disney, EA, and countless Universities, Ateliers, Institutes, and Studios, and especially enjoyed set, costume, and lighting designs for painters and illustrators. Upon realizing that she most enjoyed coaching artists through their process, she began teaching, first creating art curriculum for a K-12 after-school program while becoming bilingual in Peru, before returning to the U.S. to become a certified cognitive movement, creative dance, and preschool music instructor. She began providing, teaching, and consulting for bilingual preschools and Summer Camps, tutoring, and coaching gymnastics, and continued to teach the arts and sports. She also taught inclusive sex education and spiritual development for children at interfaith, non-denominational churches, and facilitated somatic processing, while attending weekly classes in various forms. As an undergrad, Mari authored an Interdisciplinary Arts Curriculum Program for Pre-K through 12th Grade and became credentialed. She will research, publish, and offer her program while continuing to teach Interdisciplinary Arts.

Krysta Cook is a multidisciplinary performance with a passion for dance, circus arts, teaching, creating costumes and producing.

Krysta is a Sonoma County native who began her own performance career as a belly dancer in her teens, which eventually led her into the wild world of circus arts. She has been featured in magazines, books, radio shows and been flown around the country to perform for elite Clients. She loved making her own costumes from a young age which eventually bloomed into making costumes and stage props for all of the artists she worked with. She has been a catalyst in the growing arts scene in the North Bay over the past ten years, collaborating with other local visionaries to produce/co-produce ongoing successes such as Circus Maximus Sonoma County, SerLaMuse- an art affair, Rouge Dance Company as well as many other one-off specialty shows. Krysta began to challenge the status quo of local arts when she decided to incorporate wild costuming, custom event entertainment packages and a wide selection of top-notch artists ready to book with just one phone call. A one-stop-shop of specialty arts as born! Krysta is single Mother of a smart young man, an environmental advocate, Licensed Nurse, Certified Personal trainer and philanthropist for local non-profits.

Born in San Francisco, I grew up in Lucas Valley (Marin County) 15 years then, lived in Hopewell, New Jersey (between Princeton and Trenton) for 3 years, finishing high school. After graduation, chose to live in Bozeman, Montana (close to Yellowstone National Park and the Big Sky Ski Resort) for 5 years, attending Montana State University, earning degrees.

After obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Business (Marketing Option) along with a Minor in Communication from MSU, I lived in Terra Linda (Marin County) for 6 years, continuing Multimedia studies, working.

In 1999 I moved to central Santa Rosa (Sonoma County, the "Heart of the Wine Country") and lived there for 10 years, attending a quality college for additional post-graduate studies. I broadened my education studying visual media (Computer Art, Applied Graphics, Desktop Publishing, Art, Multimedia, and web design) at Santa Rosa Junior College, while working.

With regards to my 11 years of college studies and two degrees that accompany two certificates (that relate to visual media composition and presentation), I have undertaken a variety of post-graduate studies and working in local businesses, I have expanded my knowledge of various programs that are applicable to corporate establishments and gained additional skill and knowledge of Multimedia and HTML, in pursuit of an occupation that relates to promotion, advertising or marketing.

Joelle Gonçalves Dance, Performance Art Joelle Gonçalves is the principle dancer with Sol Flamenco and also works as the company's Artistic Director. Her formal dance training began in 2003 when she traveled to Sevilla, Spain, to study with Jose Galvan and has returned to Spain several times since then to study with world famous artists such as Manuel Betanzos, Leonor Leal, and Pilar Ortega. She has also studied at The Institute for Spanish Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with visiting Spanish artists. In addition to managing shows with some of the Bay Area’s finest artists, she has performed as a soloist with local dance companies, including Mi Alma Flamenca, Mark Taylor Flamenco, and the "Flamenco Room" at Thirsty Bear. She has received awards from the Sonoma Arts Council, The Alliance for California Traditional Arts. and received a personal letter from Cirque du Soleil talent scout, Guilio Scatola, requesting her audition (after seeing her perform at the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts) for the production of Ka. Most recently she was hired for the winter 2022 season of Cirque de Bobeme's "Gypsy" as a flamenco soloist.

Sarah Hylton Artisan, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Improvisation, Mixed, Other, Painting, Sculpture, Teaching Artist for Adults, Teaching Artist for Youth Expressive Artist and Arts Facilitator specializing in a whole person-centered approach for creating art. An avid painter, dancer and ceramic sculptor; often found dancing while painting. Sarah’s paintings have been featured in galleries, juried exhibits and are in private collections. She is currently represented by Lori Austin Gallery in Sebastopol, CA. She began receiving awards as a child for her original artwork though has always resonated with the outsider and naïve artist. She is a self-taught artist and process oriented. After raising her artistically talented son, as an only parent, she is whole heartedly devoting herself to her own creative process and arts based restorative community projects. She is a 2020 Creative Sonoma Pop Up Art Grant recipient. Her current projects include the Hexagons Of Dignity Tapestry and the Art Tent. The community mural installation on the Art Tent is postponed due to Shelter In Place.

Tyehimba Kokayi Creative Sonoma Grantee, Dance, Folk Art, Other, Teacher/Instructor, Teaching Artist for Adults, Teaching Artist for Youth At 15 in Oakland, I began taking formal dance classes, and by the age of 18 began my dance career while teaching gymnastics at a dance studio in Alameda, Ca. My formal training expanded to include Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern and Dunham, while concurrently performing with the Oakland Children’s Chorus and The Oakland Youth Chorus. I later moved to Sacramento and began studying theater under the late great Dr Thomas Michael Gates, mentored in dance with James Wheatley of Celebration Arts and Pepper Von of Step 1 Dance Academy, choreographed with the Black Repertory Dance Troupe of UC Davis and began training in West African Dance with Linda Faye Johnson, Zak and Niaomi Diouf, the late greats Alasane Kane and Abdoulia Diakite by joining "CEEDO” (Chedo) West African Drum and Dance Troupe in 1986. I learned the Djembe and mastered it while completing ten years of rigorous training and founded Lions Den Entertainment, which was incorporate in 2002. Exactly 20 years later, in 2022, I established The Lions Den Education Institute, to further educate about West African culture and I also teach ZUMBA to encourage some form of movement. I received a Neighborhood Arts Program grant in 2006, began and served as President of The West African Drum and Drum Club at CSUS, from March 2007 until March 2008, hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ethnic Studies, minor in Dance, a Master of Arts Degree in Education. For 2023, I am a grant recipient and part owner of a new movement studio Cotati Moves.

Laura Leipzig Arts Administration, Dance, Fiber Art, Visual Arts Laura is passionate about bringing accessible, hight quality, visual and performing arts to to her community. As Education Outreach Manager at the Santa Rosa Symphony, she brings music education opportunities to schools throughout Sonoma County. Her past positions have included Education & Program Manager at the Museum of Sonoma County, Program Manager at Chalk Hill Artist Residency, Gallery Manager at the Arts Guild of Sonoma, and Teaching Artist with the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. Before pursuing a career in non-profit arts, Laura managed a custom frame shop and art supply store where she first discovered her love of supporting the local art community. She holds a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from San Francisco State University's College of Extended Education, and a BA in Studio Art (photography concentration) with a Minor in Dance from Sonoma State University. Laura has been performing as a member of Healdsburg based, UpSide Dance Company since 2016. In 2020 she discovered her passion for weaving and fiber arts. She primarily works on a 48 inch, 4 shaft floor loom and is an active member of the Redwood Guild of Fiber Arts.

Farrah McAdam Choreography, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Dance, Hip-Hop & Funk, Improvisation, Modern, Professional Performance, Teacher/Instructor, Teaching Artist for Adults, Teaching Artist for Youth Calling on her 20+ years of widespread movement experiences and gatherings, Farrah McAdam is a dance educator, choreographer, facilitator, and artist in the Bay Area who is invested in equitable, collaborative environments where history and critical thinking are investigated just as much as physical embodiments. Farrah has performed with CALI&CO, Liz Lerman, Kristen Daley, Cookie Harrist, Jenna Valez, Abigail Mytych, Take 5/Good Fortune, multiple works at American College Dance Association’s West Region’s Gala Concerts, and the ACDA’s National Concert at the Kennedy Center. She currently teaches through Sonoma State University and the Luther Burbank Center and has been a guest educator and choreographer around the West Region- including Arizona State University, Scottsdale Community College, UC Irvine, Modesto Community College, San Jose State, Fresno State University, Marin School of the Arts, Prescott Circus Theatre, Sonoma State University, and ODC in San Francisco. Farrah holds a B.A. in both Psychology and Dance and is currently pursuing certification through Rennie Harris University’s inaugural cohort as a C1 Candidate.

I earned my PhD in Literature from NYU and have been teaching college English for over 20 years. I have studied with Linda Trichter Metcalf (Writing the Mind Alive) and Natalie Goldberg (Writing Down the Bones), and am certified in Transformative Language Arts Foundations with the TLA Network as well as in Amherst Writers & Artists workshop leadership. Equally as important to my work in embodied writing facilitation is my many years of practice as a Zen meditator and conscious mover, especially Moving with Life (www.zuzaengler.com), Soul Motion®, and Gestalt Awareness Practice. My passion is in bringing these practices of embodiment to writing in the context of supportive community, to deepen our capacities for presence and open new portals of creativity and insight.

I work with students from K-8 grades, as well as adults. I am currently co-directing the after school Performing Arts program at a local elementary school. My partner and I also have a Stagecraft class we offer to get students/parents involved backstage. Other programming includes Art & Yoga, Creative Movement, and Explore Yoga Path. All can be modified children and adults. I have an extensive background in dance and the performing arts, I am a certified yoga instructor, a CA certified substitute teacher, and a PCS art docent. These noirish, sultry-eyed femme fatales dance and drink, smoke and smooch, flirt and linger as they live for the moment in their own sublime yet wistful worlds. Self-taught and painting mainly with her fingers, Moore creates an atmosphere of night life, good times, and fleeting romances. Her images bring to life a world at once sensuous, sophisticated, sometimes sweet yet always alluring. Cabaret girls, lounge lizards and circus performers recall a risque lost generation, that in this age, can only exist within the confines of a fertile imagination. And these decadent dames get around. Moore's work is exhibited and collected worldwide. Moore's fiery independence shows through in these characters, who all seem to have their own checkered pasts, drawn from deep within the artist's own fantasies and realities, past and present.

She was raised in Healdsburg and graduated from Sonoma State with her B.A. in Liberal Studies and Performing Arts. She has worked extensively in the commercial and film industries. For the duration of the ACE fellowship, she will be focusing on releasing new music and creating a community oriented music video that features dancing, youth, and the talent of other local artists.

She guest directs at a variety of locations and also works for the Luther Burbank Center as a Teaching Artist. Her Residencies include Story Ninjas, Math Dance, Empowering the Inner Hero, Mastery Through Movement, and Eco-System in a Box. Bridget enjoys “play”ing with hundreds of children each year and loves the excitement of performance projects which culminate within 6-10 sessions. She studied Theater Directing at UC Berkeley and completed the LBC’s Kennedy Center Teaching Artist professional training, as well as several other Arts Integration professional development trainings related to Drama, Movement, and Storytelling. Bridget helps children become high performers through acting-based activities. Bridget also loves writing scripts and producing comedy improv. She founded and ran the 6th Street Improv adult troupe from 2008-2013 in Santa Rosa at the 6th Street Playhouse. In 2018, she wrote her first play for children: "Alex & The Magic Staff", with an anti-bullying theme. She is currently looking for a producer for her screenplay, Amazing Grace. Miss Bridget's latest passion is saving Nature. In 2023, she is launching https://wesavetheworld.org, the story sharing platform kids can use to become eco-heroes.

Born in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, Gloria came to the U.S. as a little girl and grew up in the agricultural Central Valley of California. At an early age, Gloria developed a love for humanities and the arts, and as a first generation college student, she went on to complete a dual Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Theater Arts (Dance) from Sonoma State University in 2011. She has directed, choreographed, and performed dance throughout the Bay Area, is a certified labyrinth walk facilitator, a handmade beadwork artist, and teaches children's dance and jewelry-making classes. In her professional life, Gloria has been heavily involved in arts nonprofits and organizations, most notably in managing fundraisers and events, outreach and communications, grants management, social media management, and overall business and professional development. Gloria is passionate about combining the use of arts and creativity, somatic awareness and expression, and inner and external understanding for individual and community healing. Her passion has developed into board participation and arts administration for a variety of local non-profits, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts in a conjunction program between Tamalpa Institute and Meridian University.

Irene Silva Dance, Latin, Teacher/Instructor Santa Rosa Salsa is the pulse of the local Salsa music and dance scene whose purpose is to inspire joy and connection through Latin dance classes, boot camps and live music events. Propelled by the purpose of bringing live Salsa music to Sonoma County, visionary entrepreneur Irene Silva founded Santa Rosa Salsa in 2001. Silva holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a Minor in Communications from University of California Davis and offers experience in Event Planning, Customer Service, Advertising, Sales, and Strategic Planning.

Dylan Smith Ballet, Choreography, Dance, Illustration, Literature, Modern, Non-Fiction, Other, Other, Poetry, Professional Performance, Teacher/Instructor, Visual Arts Dylan Smith is a Bay Area dancer, choreographer, instructor and visual artist. He holds a BA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College and is on staff at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Mr. Smith has performed and choreographed with Transcendence Theatre Company in Sonoma, California the past few years earning him Broadway World San Francisco's Best Choreography Award for 2015. Other performing credits include the Japan and North American Tours of 42nd Street, JUBILEE! at Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and Principal Dancer on Holland America Line. As a choreographer and instructor his experience ranges from the Alvin Ailey Children's Program, Santa Rosa Junior College and Sonoma State University just to name a few. In addition to the performing arts, Dylan has rediscovered his joy and passion for visual art, creating new works based on childhood pieces. He has had three, well attended, successful exhibitions here in California and plans to keep moving forward with developing a brand entitled "Hair Pop Out Mania". He is available for private dance and theatre instruction, group classes, choreography as well as visual art commissions.

Victor Temple Arts Administration, Ballet, Choreography, Dance, Hip-Hop & Funk, Improvisation, Latin, Modern, Other, Performance Art, Professional Performance, Teacher/Instructor, Teaching Artist for Adults, Teaching Artist for Youth Victor Temple is an internationally known dancer, choreographer and teacher. He has danced with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Cirque Du Soleil, American Repertory Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Alabama Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, Honzhou Song and Dance Group, Shanghai Ballet, and the Central Ballet of China. While living in China, he won a gold medal for the Asian Choreography Competition and was the first westerner to hold a position as a member of the Chinese Dancers' Associations, as a liaison of western dance styles. Mr. Temple choreographed the opening of the China and Hong Kong reunification ceremony and was honored with a statue of his likeness at the theater entrance of the Arts University of Mongolia in recognition of his accomplishments. He has been Artistic Director of New World Ballet since 2005. He has been awarded the Spirit of Sonoma County award and named one of the 22 People to Watch in 2022 by the Press Democrat. Mr. Temple was also named King of Carnaval, San Francisco in 2004.
