Kala Stein Architecture, Artisan, Ceramics, Design, Functional Art, Interior Design, Multi-Media, Other, Sculpture, Teacher/Instructor, Visual Arts Kala Stein (b.1979) is an artist and designer noted for innovative mold making and casting techniques. Her work explores dynamic systems and sustainable practices within the intersection of design, production, and the handmade. Kala received her BFA in Ceramics from SUNY New Paltz in 2002 and her MFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 2009. She stayed on at Alfred to teach and curate at the Cohen Gallery from 2009-2015. She exhibits her work nationally and works with private clients on custom designs for the home and hospitality industry. Her community based work is aimed at developing models that will help organizations, schools, and private practitioners operate with more sustainable practices. Kala is the Director of Ceramics at Sonoma Community Center, Sonoma, California where she is developing and enhancing their community studio, artist in residence program, and community outreach programming. Paul Steward Audio, Composition, Instrumental, Media, Music, Other, Performance Art, Vocal Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, award-winning performer and recording artist, Paul has resided in Sonoma County since 1997 and has been entertaining audiences all over the world with his own style of R&B/Rock/Pop. Winning the 2010 Nammy for Blues Album of the Year, the 2016 NorBay Award for R&B band of the year from the North Bay Bohemian weekly, among other awards, he has performed all over the USA and internationally with 8 album releases and recorded live footage. Learning the guitar when he was a teenager from his father and sharing the stage with him, Paul found a passion for music and excelled at it. Notably as the frontman of Twice As Good, also on record with artists Jacques Wilkens, Ras K'dee and Audiopharmacy. Paul's guitar style is a sweet and screaming melody reminiscent of B.B. King and a vocal style that is soulful like Bruno Mars, Jonny Lang, and Al Green.

Linda Stonestreet Composition, Improvisation, Music, Performance Art, Teacher/Instructor, Theatre, Vocal Linda Stonestreet is the founder of The Sing Project which seeks to seed circle singing groups in the north bay for the purpose of re-building and strengthening community. Born in California, she is mentored by Rhiannon in the vocal river traditions and conducts improvisational circle singing. She is a Singer-Songwriter with 40+ songs published. A former long time civil-servant in the State’s Natural Resources Division (Conservation Corps, State Parks and CalFire) she utilizes her expertise in State government and water issues to grow capacity in rural communities throughout California by her work with Rural Community Assistance Corp.

Eric Strand Music, Recovery Fund Grantee Eric Strand is one of the most passionate and dedicated drummers The Frequency has ever known. He is a dear and close friend. Eric and Ian Franklin first started making music together in various projects back in 2002. More recently Eric began playing with The Frequency in August of 2012. Their chemistry has ripened playing all these years together. Since age 15, drumming has been Eric’s core focus and passion. His thoughts become transformed into cohesive rhythmic energy, always pushing limits. He thrives on experimentation and new sounds. Born with a gift for timing and amazing dexterity, Eric brings inspiration to his audience, who are captivated by the depth and quality in all he plays. Delving into new technologies in sound creation, attempting to satisfy a never-ending thirst for perfection and diligently chasing the unique buzz of being able to create something new…. Adrian Susnea Litman Recovery Fund Grantee, Visual Arts Born in 1948, I started to learn about art at a very early age, playing with colors and art materials in my father's Art Design and Restoration studio. In 1963, I was accepted in the Fine Arts High School N. Tonitza in Bucharest, Romania where I studied art techniques including drawing, painting, graphics, engraving, sculpture, fresco, mosaic and ceramics. After finishing the Fine Art High School, I attended the University of Bucharest Art Institute, graduating in 1974 with a Masters degree in Graphic Arts Design. Since 1980, after relocating to California, I worked as a Graphic Designer and Art Director in the Silicon Valley, San Francisco Bay Area until 2003 when I retired from the corporate world and started Adrian Litman Architectural Art & Design Studio. I create artwork for Civic, Business and Private clients, including custom paintings, murals, frescoes, mosaics, sculptures, stained glass panels, fountains and wall treatments, all of which facilitate the harmonious integration of art with architecture. Many of my projects include acoustical components made of recycled materials especially for public places with high traffic, like libraries, large offices and public buildings.

Ellen Sussman Fiction, Literature Ellen Sussman is the New York Times bestselling author of four novels, A Wedding in Provence, The Paradise Guest House, French Lessons, and On a Night Like This. She is the editor of two critically acclaimed anthologies, Bad Girls: 26 Writers Misbehave and Dirty Words: A Literary Encyclopedia of Sex. Alice Sutro Performance Art, Visual Arts

Alice Warnecke Sutro creates large-scale figurative installations that fully depend on audience interaction.

Her live drawing sessions are humorous and lively, but they also reveal a philosophical approach to the nature of art. After many years of experimental drawing, Alice’s practice prioritizes art’s ancient purpose as a community-forming activity for ritual gatherings.

The format for her projects is recurring: she invites participants from a crowd and draws them live, in the moment and with no erasing. The figures are rendered with a sensitive line that demonstrates her love of people, often strangers, with whom she converses the entire time.

In keeping with ritual experiences and inspired by contemporary artists like Marina Abramovich and Matthew Barney, Alice always designs her projects to explore the edge of her physical capacity. Past projects have included tracing figures on a 3-story façade by means of a scissor lift and extension paintbrushes, and drawing visitors at an art fair for 2 days straight in record heat to create a 120-foot continuous column of portraits.

Tom Swearingen Painting, Visual Arts Personal Tom was born in Oakland, CA, and lived in Richmond, CA, until moving to Petaluma in 1978 to take a job as a police officer. He married Margaret (Peggy) in 1980, and they have two sons: William, 28, and James, 24. Tom and Margaret live in in Santa Rosa, not far from where Margaret grew up. He paints in a studio they had constructed behind their home in 2011. Education Tom graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1981, and later earned a Masters Degree in Organization Development from Sonoma State University. He took nine months of instruction from master painter Charles Becker in 2011. Professional – Pre-2007 Tom retired as a lieutenant from the Santa Rosa Police Department in 2007. His last assignment was commanding the Investigations Bureau, comprising 40 personnel who were responsible for investigating major crimes in Santa Rosa. He also worked as a consultant to private businesses and local non-profits, facilitating meetings, coaching managers, and conducting team building workshops. Professional – 2007 to date In 1967, Tom received an HO Scale model train for Christmas. Ever since, he has been a model railroader. His favorite part of the hobby is creating models that closely resemble the prototypes. In 2006, while building a new model railroad, he attempted to paint a realistic backdrop on the layout. It was a disaster. In response, he went to Village Art in Santa Rosa and bought the book, “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” by Betty Edwards. Using the accompanying workbook, Tom began sketching for the first time. He was hooked. Since then, he has sketched or painted daily. Model railroading is still his hobby; painting is his full-time occupation. In 2009, Tom entered his first juried show and all three pieces he entered were selected for the show (“All Aboard,” Petaluma Art Center). Since then, he has been selected to show in numerous juried shows in California. In 2010, the Press Democrat posted a video of Tom and his art, shot by one of their staff photographers, on the web edition of the newspaper, titled, “Cop to Painter.” In 2012, Tom was invited to show work at the Hub Gallery, Penn State University, which featured 30 invited railroad artists from around the country. In April 2013, he was invited to be a gallery artist at Healdsburg Center for the Arts. In June of 2013, Tom participated in Art at the Source, and in 2014 and 2016, Sonoma County Art Trails. His art has appeared in several publications, most recently in the December, 2016 issue of Southwest Art.

Carol Tacconi Design, Graphic Design, Painting, Visual Arts I am a painter in various mediums including Acrylic on Canvas and Watercolor on Arches and have now been focusing my work using Oil and Cold Wax on Cradle board with an abstract theme inspired by nature. With many years as a working artist and designer around the Bay Area, I relocated to the eclectic and arts driven Sonoma County. I received a BFA from California College of the Arts and was privileged to continue expanding my creativity at the Stanford d.School. Most recently, I was honored to join Windsor’s Public Art Advisory Commission and look forward to collaborating with my colleagues in supporting arts in the community.

The Tahoes Composition, Instrumental, Music, Vocal For almost 5 years The Tahoes have traversed Northern California, from San Jose to Mendocino, bringing their unique brand of reggae-rock to hella stoked audiences everywhere. Comprised of former members of The Conspiracy, Biting The Dog, Tin Circus and Fallout, The Tahoes’ fun-filled sets of skanktastic grooves are roughly 70/40 originals/covers. (That’s 110% percent!) They’ve played for huge crowds at the Sonoma County Fair, the Booneville Beer Festival, The Sonoma County Harvest fair and recently opened for national touring artists The Mad Caddies, Fishbone and The Aggrolites. The Tahoes bring the energy with original hits like I Need You, Acorn, Break Out, Sparkle On, 4:20 and the crowd’s favorite anthem, Hella NorCal. The Tahoes are Glenn Sauber [Lead Vocals], Joshua Bluegreen-Cripps [Trumpet], Darren Thompson [Vocals, Guitar], Joel Gieseker [Bass], & Micah Stoufer [Drums] It all started back in 1988, when Micah moved from Colorado to NorCal. The son of an accomplished music educator/director/composer, Micah had music in his blood at the very beginning. After logging valuable experience with children’s & church choirs in Colorado, he immersed himself in the music programs of whatever schools he attended here in his new home of Forestville in Sonoma County. It was at this time he met and befriended Joel, his future Tahoe bassist! Who knew 30 years later they’d still be doing this!? Joel played almost everything he could get his hands on growing up: tuba, trombone, bagpipe, recorder, pennywhistle and more. That talent paid off when Joel was awarded a scholarship to UNLV to play tuba. He later returned to NorCal and joined the ska band The Conspiracy, and toured with them for several years. Joel and Micah performed, competed and practiced their way through high school and some college years in Santa Rosa. As for Micah, all of that experience came to a head with the dedication to his band in the late 90s - Fallout. The entire band would ultimately uproot and head south to “make it big” in 1997 in L.A., only to come home a year later, with a failed attempt at rock stardom. He would join the navy a year after that, and embark upon a whole new chapter in his life, teaching fellow sailors how to play electric bass and drums along the way. Little did Micah and Joel know back then, but they had already met and played with another future Tahoe: Josh! The skinny kid playing first trumpet in Prep Orchestra and Santa Rosa Junior Symphony was none other than the future Tahoe trumpeter. Josh's legacy on the trumpet includes being a founding member of Tin Circus, the Producer of the Wednesday Night Big Band (one of the largest in NorCal) in addition to being a youth tutor and one badass DJ & KJ! He also Produces and Promotes large scale and club events in Norcal (since 1999) with his Company, Bluegreen Productions. Darren grew up in Santa Cruz, CA and taught himself to play guitar by picking out the notes from his favorite albums. He began playing in bands at 19 culminating in his first gig at the legendary Stone on Broadway in San Francisco and was soon playing clubs all over the Bay Area opening for legends in the making such as Nofx, Primus, The Melvins and Skankin Pickle. After several years of playing in metal and punk bands, Darren moved to Tahoe to continue playing music and chase a snowboarding dream. 8 years in Tahoe splitting time between an acoustic duo playing all of the ski resorts, a punk band playing all the parties and a metal tribute band playing the bars was good for rounding out his chops in various styles. After meeting his wife and having their first daughter, he moved with his new family to Sonoma County to be closer to family. After a short stint with the north bay punk outfits All For Nothing and The Stairwell Effect, Darren met drummer Micah through an ad on Craigslist placed for the “best 80s hair metal tribute band that never was: Metalsnayke.” The chemistry was instantaneous the moment they wordlessly played Ozzy's “Crazy Train” front to back. This partnership which would last 9 years (and is still going strong) and would eventually form the straight ahead hard rock band, Biting the Dog. Biting the dog toured all over California performing notably at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, both the Phoenix and Mystic theaters in Petaluma and the Whisky A Go Go in LA. The band eventually changed sounds and shuffled personnel, including Micah moving from drums to bass. They wanted to incorporate a horn section, so Micah called up some old high school buddies - including Joel - who would contribute wonderfully on trombone. This configuration of players would eventually morph into The Tahoes. Glenn started out as a fan of Biting The Dog. He went to his first BTD show because his cousin, Beth, was dating Micah. Out of family obligation and a desire to get out of house Glenn agreed to go out to a stinky bar in Sebastopol. He was blown away by Micah & Darren's talent. As the years progressed, Glenn went to many BTD shows as a fan AND as a videographer. After the band broke up, Micah asked Glenn if he wanted to come mess around with him (now back on drums), Darren on guitar, and Joel now on 6 string bass. Glenn had never been in a band before. He had done many choirs throughout his life and had done theatre, singing, sketch comedy, stand up comedy, and acted in small roles on TV and movies, but never actually been in a band. They gelled instantly. After months of writing and exploring they finally settled on a sound, a mix of sublime, 311, Primus, Fishbone, Van Halen and a dash of Frank Zappa. The only thing left was a band name. When the time came for Micah's bachelor party, South Lake Tahoe was the designated spot. Soon “TAHOE” was the battle cry that was yelled when anyone was having a good time. The name, and more importantly, the feeling stuck. The Tahoes was born. Since then, they have been inseparable on every #TahoeTuesday and they text each other like 13 year old girls. They wrote many originals and learned covers that they all liked and started to play all around Northern California. They did shows in Sebastopol, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Novato, San Jose, The Sonoma county Fair and the world-famous Boonville Beer Festival. in 2016 they satiated their desire to expand their sound by bringing Josh into the fold. His unique style of playing added to what the group already built and really enhanced their sound. What makes the Tahoes so unique is that despite such a broad and eclectic variety of influences (hard rock,punk, fusion jazz, celtic music, prog rock, eighties light rock, r&b, reggae, etc. etc.) there is a cohesiveness to their set that is making new fans at every show.

Kot Takahashi Film Office, Recovery Fund Grantee, Talent, Theatre Kot Takahashi is an Actor, Dancer, and Musician from the Bay Area. His passion for the arts drives him in his life long quest for artistic and personal growth. Kot's recent theatrical roles include: “Romeo” in Romeo & Juliet, “Peter” in Prelude to a Kiss, “Han Solo” in Star Wars - THE FORCE the Musical, “Olivia” & “Sebastian” in Twelfth Night, “Francis Crick” in Photograph 51, and “Juror #8” in 12 Angry Jurors. Kot is currently studying theater, music, composition and many different styles of dance. Kot works as an instructor at Alchemia Day program teaching music and dance to adults with developmental disabilities. Kot also teaches theater at elementary schools is Sonoma County. He is one of the founding artistic directors for the new student theater company "Redwood Theatre Company”. Kot continues to forever be a student of the arts.

Colin Talcroft Mixed, Photography, Printmaking, Visual Arts About the Artist I am self-taught and active in a range of media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and photography. I got interested in photography at the age of eight and began drawing at an earlier age. Figure drawing has been a life-long interest, and the nude has figured prominently in my photographic work as well. In the realm of abstract art, I have worked extensively as a printmaker and more recently in collage. My printmaking has included traditional methods such as etching and woodblock printing, but many of my prints use methods of my own—for example, printing from corrugated board and from found objects such as twine, bubble plastic, and paper cutouts. My collage work is abstract and painterly, using monotypes I make myself and, less commonly, found paper artifacts. Since around 2014, collage has been my main artistic pursuit.

Victor Temple Arts Administration, Ballet, Choreography, Dance, Hip-Hop & Funk, Improvisation, Latin, Modern, Other, Performance Art, Professional Performance, Teacher/Instructor, Teaching Artist for Adults, Teaching Artist for Youth Victor Temple is an internationally known dancer, choreographer and teacher. He has danced with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Cirque Du Soleil, American Repertory Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Alabama Ballet, New Jersey Ballet, Honzhou Song and Dance Group, Shanghai Ballet, and the Central Ballet of China. While living in China, he won a gold medal for the Asian Choreography Competition and was the first westerner to hold a position as a member of the Chinese Dancers' Associations, as a liaison of western dance styles. Mr. Temple choreographed the opening of the China and Hong Kong reunification ceremony and was honored with a statue of his likeness at the theater entrance of the Arts University of Mongolia in recognition of his accomplishments. He has been Artistic Director of New World Ballet since 2005. He has been awarded the Spirit of Sonoma County award and named one of the 22 People to Watch in 2022 by the Press Democrat. Mr. Temple was also named King of Carnaval, San Francisco in 2004.

Keyaira Terry Artisan, Design, Fiber Art, Functional Art, Interior Design, Mixed, Other, Other, Teacher/Instructor, Visual Arts Keyaira Terry is an artist with a bold spirit and an old soul. Born and raised in Ukiah, a small farm town in Northern California, Keyaira had a childhood that was deeply connected to the soil and earth, learning to use everything around her as a tool or resource. Keyaira spent her formative years with her grandmother sewing, tending to the land they lived on, and caring for an array of farm animals. Trading goods and commodities among their close-knit farm community was commonplace and shaped Keyaira’s perspective on sustainability and the true meaning of “locally sourced”. Keyaira recalls utilizing all the resources available to her and minimizing waste as being a paramount part of her existence, “if we didn’t have it we made it, if something broke we fixed it”. These collective experiences helped cultivate Keyaira as an artist and inspire her present-day work and ethos — A homespun nostalgia with a modern sensibility, rooted by a love for natural, sustainable and ethically sourced materials. Keyaira currently resides in Santa Rosa, California with her husband, Weston, and their two English bulldogs, Lola and Olive. She splits her time between running her own business as a designer and maker, weaving instructor, and creating commissioned pieces. She has collaborated with companies such as Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, Studio 11 Designs, Bustle Events and has been featured by Sonoma Magazine, Apartment Therapy and Etsy.

I have a folk/americana/native american music show called coyote road for 15 years called Coyote Road on KSVY. I play guitar, banjo and dulcimer and drums. and really whatever anyone might hand me to play. play mostly in the living room or with friends but i have played gigs at times in my life. Kathleen Thompson Mixed, Painting Using fluid acrylic, I work these color-field gestural abstractions to a sense of resolution. In my explorations and attention to the present, meanings occur as actions arise through the process. What is revealed, through gesture and alteration, becomes a metaphor for the passage of time, shifting internal states, changing perspective, retrieval and integration. The paintings are evidence of a journey... material and engagement the carrier of meaning.

Nestor Torres Lupercio Photography, Visual Arts Nestor Torres Lupercio was born in Sonoma County during the nineties in a family that immigrated from Aguascalientes, Mexico. He was raised in Sebastopol, California where he would wander the apple orchard where he grew up. When he was eighteen years old, an interest in photography was sparked. After that, he decided to take a couple of photography classes at Santa Rosa Junior College; as Nestor transitioned from school to entering the workforce, he decided to study light, composition, and equipment on his own. While spending years practicing capturing portraits, nightscapes by the coast, and street photography in Mexico, he noticed that photography was a healthy outlet to deal with unresolved depression, chronic pain, and bicultural identity crisis. For the last three consecutives years, Nestor has taken solo trips to different parts of Mexico to practice street photography and as a way of honoring his Mexican roots. In 2016, He was featured in the bilingual newspaper La Prensa Sonoma by his work inspired by the Mexican board game La Loteria. In 2017 the Press Democrat named him as a “Notable Sonoma County artist.” He has presented his work in a variety of art exhibitions such as Dia de los Muertos in Petaluma for the last two years and more recently a solo art exhibition, Paleteros De México in Santa Rosa. Photography has become Nestor’s go to medicine to cope on different aspects in his life physically and mentally. Nestor continues documenting in Mexico capturing various traditions and aspects overlooked or culturally appropriated and give a deeper look and appreciation from a perspective from a first generation Mexican American artist.

Trebuchet Music, Vocal Petaluma, CA’s Trebuchet all met while attending music school at Sonoma State University, although it wasn’t until four years later in 2010 that its four members decided to form as an indie group. Now a veteran mainstay of California’s Northern Bay Area music scene, Trebuchet has evolved from a pop folk outfit, to Indie Rock darling. This shift in style has taken them from playing Napa’s Bottle Rock Festival and opening for country slugger Dwight Yoakam, to releasing one of KQED’s (San Francisco NPR affiliate) top 10 local albums of 2017, Volte-Face, and playing Noise Pop Festival 2019, San Francisco’s favorite indie music, arts, and film festival. With reliance on an expansive dynamic range, Trebuchet employs lush 3 and 4 part harmonies as the connective tissue in the many musical genres that they traverse through the course of any single piece of work. 2018 saw the release of two passion projects in the form of That’s What Friends Are For and Spend Your Christmas With Us. The former being a collection of covers and remixes of Trebuchet songs by local and national artists (Judah Nagler of The Velvet Teen, Emily Whitehurst of Tsunami Bomb, Survival Guide) and the latter being a collection of original and classic Christmas songs performed by Trebuchet. Not showing any signs of slowing down, Trebuchet is currently working on their third full length album, titled It’s Fine, I’m Fine, to be released Q2 of 2020.

Rebeca Trevino Artisan, Multi-Media, Other Rebeca Treviño – Assemblage Artist I am an assemblage artist. My art materials are not paints, but pieces, parts and objects found at flea markets, antique stores, estate and garage sales. With these found objects I creates stories in a 3-D format, purposely arranging them out of context, so that even the most familiar images of our culture are often contrasted with modern-day ideas. As a story teller, I like to lure the viewer into my work, first with an immediate response to the visual impact of color and composition, which inevitably causes the viewer to want to know more. Some of my “unwritten stories” run as deep as the viewer dares to go, while others will tell the story with the simplicity of a nursery rhyme. I love what I do, it makes me happy to take things that have served their original purpose, giving them new meaning and artistic value. I feel that my work breathes new life into these discarded objects in a way that can be unexpectedly provocative, politically suggestive, and unquestionably deliberate. A lifelong collector, my studio is a collection of children’s toys, vintage tools and other unusual objects. My method of working is best described by the characters I’ve chosen to play, to include that of collector, builder, and juxtaposer. Patti Trimble Literature, Mixed, Multi-Media, Other, Painting, Performance Art, Poetry, Theatre, Visual Arts I'm a Marin native, and have been a painter and poet most of my life, exhibiting paintings in galleries and museums and performing lyric poems in theaters, festivals, and other venues, often with music, sometimes with projected images. My work has always touched on wild places and environmental issues, and these days my focus is entirely on climate change and the anthropocene. I think by writing and painting, as wholistically as possible. In my poems, there has always been a freedom to bring themes and styles together. I have been painting a long time, and now I just want to think better about the world and our place in it. In the studio these days sticking to a single prescribed style feels way too limiting. I want wholistic images to appear, images that tell me something new: from gestural abstraction, to realism, science diagrams, words, intuitive and imaginative surprises, appropriation, automatism, surrealism. Poetry and painting are professions, and I have also worked as a National Park Naturalist; as studio assistant to first-generation abstract expressionists (for ten years in New York); as a science and literature writer; and as creative writing and visual art professor.
