Student Arts Spotlight

Student Arts Spotlight shares the good news of the arts making a difference in students’ lives in a monthly feature. The Sonoma County Arts Education Alliance is pleased to feature the Sonoma County Honor Band. An ensemble of junior high musicians and one of high school musicians rehearsed with guest conductors Dr. Jerome Fleg and Michael Stone. The bands performed in the Green Music Center on January 28. Musicians from the following schools performed:

Analy HS, Casa Grande HS, Petaluma HS, Rancho Cotate HS, Technology HS, Sonoma Valley HS, Montgomery HS, Piner HS, Elsie Allen HS, Santa Rosa HS, Maria Carrillo HS, Windsor HS, and Healdsburg HS.

March is Arts Education Month! Join the celebration!

This free, in-person event is a celebration and recognition of vibrant, engaging arts education programs and progress in Sonoma County. Join the AEA to recognize the impact of arts education in the lives of students with inspirational performances, presentations, and exhibits of high quality, culturally relevant, engaging arts education. Prop 28 Moves into Law as CA Education Code 8820

Proposition 28 has passed through the Legislative Session to be recognized as CA Education Code 8820. This Act will begin providing supplemental funding to schools to address gaps in arts education. Language about this funding can be found HERE

Wanted! Teaching Artists!

Teaching artists from all artistic disciplines are invited to an Open Call at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. Learn more about the opportunities available in this field. More information available HERE Advanced registration is required.

Meetups for Arts Orgs Return!

Sonoma County Education Leaders from Arts Organizations are invited to these meetups. March 22 will focus on plans for summer programs. May 3 will center on the topic of marketing: how to reach families. Contact Ashleigh Worley aworley@lutherburbankcenter.org for more information.
