Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a recitation competition to high schools across the country.
Sonoma County Poetry Out Loud Celebrates 14th Year of Participation
This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history. The program is a partnership of the National Endowment for the Arts, Poetry Foundation, and state and regional arts agencies.
Locally, Poetry Out loud is managed by California Poets in the Schools with support from Creative Sonoma (via funding from the California Arts Council) and the Sonoma County Vintners Foundation. County winners proceed to the state competition, the winner of which proceeds to the national final.
Sonoma County Poetry Out Loud is pleased to announce that students from twelve Sonoma County high schools are competing this year, including from Analy, Casa Grande, Creekside, El Molino, Maria Carillo, Petaluma, Piner, Rancho Cotate, Roseland Collegiate Prep, Roseland University Prep, Santa Rosa High, and Sonoma Academy.
