NEWS BRIEF: Fire Story wins Emmy Award

On June 2, graphic novelist Brian Fies and KQED producers won a Northern California Area Emmy Award for Best Public/Current/Community Affairs-Feature/Segment for KQED's video version of Fies' "Fire Story.”

Creating the work immediately after the trauma of the Santa Rosa firestorm, Fies posted his original “Fire Story” comic online. A collaboration led to the series being animated and produced by KQED, where it received more than two million views after NPR linked to it.
