Part-Time Position | Start date: ASAP (by Dec. 1) | Apply by: November 2, 2017

Seeking a motivated, organized, reliable, efficient, and "can-do!" operations and communications manager to support the activities of the people-powered U.S. Department of Arts and Culture.

This person will help build and maintain infrastructure and capacity to support rapidly growing participation and activity across the USDAC network. We’re looking for someone who has experience and comfort working remotely, is comfortable learning and using new tech platforms, and has experience in both digital communications and organizational administration.

A strong match will have experience in building effective systems to manage complex projects as well as in leading communications efforts for projects and organizations. Experience working at the intersection of arts, social justice, and organizing is welcome, but not essential so long as the applicant is aligned with USDAC values.

Key Responsibilities:

Communicating with partners and participants
Scheduling and logistical support for meetings and travel
Supporting the planning and coordination activities of the core team with meeting notes, project timelines, etc.
Managing online databases (experience with Action Network a plus) Creating online forms and newsletters
Maintaining the USDAC’s social media presence and developing strategies to engage and expand our audience
Organizing and archiving media from USDAC events, calls, and actions
Website maintenance (experience with Squarespace a plus)
Managing volunteers for key initiatives
Conducting research for new initiatives
Ordering and mailing materials
For a candidate with communications skills, the role could include producing newsletters and associated promotional and communication activities.
Qualifications:

We are looking for a flexible self-starter, creative troubleshooter, and strong collaborator in dispersed team environments with experience in writing, communications, and complex project management. Needs to be comfortable learning and managing an array of tech platforms and demonstrate strong reliability and accountability: keeping commitments and deadlines, showing up for scheduled meetings, remaining in regular, clear communication. Must be able to work effectively with many types of people and communities, and be capable of holding and tending to many relationships. Experience in other start-up nonprofit environments useful.

Compensation: $18/hour, approximately 15 hours/week, with the possibility of increased hours after first six months.

Location: Our team is spread across the country and works remotely. We are open to candidates based anywhere.
