Matthew is a commercial artist specializing in promotional marketing. His clients have included Disney, Marvel, Nickelodeon, Mattel, and many other name brands. After 17 years in the industry, he has decided to give back to our community and has been teaching Graphics and Marketing in both public and private schools in Sonoma County for the past six years. In November of 2022, Matthew joined Boomerang Plus, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to teaching students the important connection between school, business, and nonprofit organizations in building a stronger community.

The heart of Matthew’s agenda is instilling the Power of Observation, the ability to see things others might not. A behind the scenes look at how the motion picture, television, food, fashion, auto, and real estate industries use shapes and color to communicate. Observing from a stage handlers perspective, students will have the ability to see how the world is staged, how they too can use these tools, giving them an upper hand with all their presentations going forward.

Following the student’s lead, the classes begin with apparel design. Students love developing their own brand of swag. They love being in charge of what their clothes say. The classes do branch off from there if students are interested in advancing their Marketing skills. From magazine covers, to posters, to candy boxes where students dive into package design, a desired industry skill to have under your belt. Schools can also advance the apparel design program, printing their school’s uniforms and apparel for other community events.

Max number of students: 30

Length of program: First class is one hour. The 2nd and 3rd classes are 90 minutes.

Space / technical requirements:

Laptops are provided.

Classes are available at The Community Shops in Windsor.

Fees / Ticketing:

The first class is $50. It includes your first designed t-shirt that you print at the end of this class. If you wish to advance the training, the next class is 90 minutes @$75. The third class 90 minutes @$75. Both of those classes are open ended. If you aren't done with your design by the end of the class, you may return until you have finalized and printed it.
