Ancestors of Place is a compilation of ten interviews with a variety of Sonoma County residents examining personal experience with community, land, connection to ancestors, and belonging.
You are invited to the chapbook release of Dani Burlison’s Creative Sonoma ArtSurround Project, “Ancestors of Place: Community, Land and Connection in Sonoma County.” Ancestors of Place is a compilation of ten interviews with a variety of Sonoma County residents examining personal experience with community, land, connection to ancestors, and belonging. The chapbook also includes writing prompts and conversation topics for people to reflect on who gets to live here.
Attendees are encouraged to participate in a very short group writing exercise and a casual, participatory group conversation about the chapbook themes: responsibility to place, roles in community, connection to our ancestors, etc. A limited number of chapbooks will be for sale.
- Campfire, great company and refreshments provided.
- Please bring a pen and notebook: we will do a short writing prompt at 3:30pm sharp, followed by conversation, snacks, socializing
