Live Music and Food trucks along with artisans and makers from 33 Arts accompany Sara Downing during her immersive photographic sculpture installation.
It was artist Jessica Rasmussen who, in November 2020 organized a holiday arts marketplace for makers and artisans at 33 Arts in West Santa Rosa to sell their crafts to the holiday-shopping public In December. Days before the scheduled event, Sonoma County issued a Stay At Home order effective at 12am the day the marketplace was to be held. The event was of course cancelled, adding disappointment to an already difficult economic time for artists.
Now that Spring has arrived, and restrictions are loosened in Sonoma County, artist Sara Downing has picked up the torch by adding those original artisans (and a few more) to join in alongside her art opening featuring her three-dimensional photographic sculptures.
Downing and Rasmussen say they hope that this arts event brings the community out to support their local artists, have a great time listening to live music and to enjoy food from favorite local food trucks. Says Downing: ”We could all use a bit of outdoor levity right now. When was the last time you heard live music?”
The May outdoor event takes place on Saturday, May 15th, 11am - 4pm at 33 Arts: 3840 Finley Ave. Santa Rosa.
33 Arts is located on the historic Santa Rosa Naval Air Station, and is home to over 25 Artists and craftspeople. Sara Downing is a local photographic artist living in Santa Rosa, with work currently exhibited in the Window Gallery at The Museum of Sonoma County through mid July.
