Poetic License Sonoma, a group of 8 poets read each month at Sebastopol Center for the Arts Fourth Tuesday Zoom Poetry Series. Though often a solitary pursuit, the writing of poetry, like all artistic forms of communication, is nurtured through the collaboration and support of others. They encourage and celebrate this form of artistry in our region, and beyond, through poetry readings, like this one; the publication of their work; and a steady stream of new writing.Acting MC: Joseph Cutler;  Guest Student poet from SRJC: Stork Rein

Elizabeth Herron, current Poet Laureate of Sonoma County, is a four times Pushcart Prize nominee, has been short/long-listed for the Anhinga-Robert Dana Prize for Poetry; the Comstock Annual Poetry Prize and Frontier’s Industry Prize.

Her books include 2 full collections of poetry (Desire Being Full of Distances, Insistent Grace), 4 chapbooks (Dark Season, The Stones the Dark Earth, Language for the Wild and Report), and a book of short fiction (While the Distance Widens). Along with poetry Elizabeth writes articles on art, empathy, ecology and the life of the spirit.

She publishes in Reflections, Canary, West Marin Review, Jung Journal, Free State Review, Orion, Center for Humans & Nature and Parabola and is included in various anthologies, including Fire and Rain, Ecopoetry of California.  

Winner of the San Francisco Small Press Traffic award in poetry, and a four times Pushcart Prize nominee, she has been short/long-listed for the Anhinga-Robert Dana Prize for Poetry; Her writing has been supported by the Damien Foundation, the Foundation for Deep Ecology, the NEA grants to artists in community, and the Mesa Refuge for Writers residency program.
