PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MONDAY, MARCH 8, 2021

Santa Rosa Junior College and North Bay Organizing Project (NBOP) invite proposals for workshops, presentations, panels, and performances for our 4th annual We the Future Social Justice Conference, which will be held virtually on Friday April 16, 2021 via Zoom.

We encourage proposals related to this year’s theme, “Power in Numbers.” Exploring the intersections of community and organizing in the broadest sense, we welcome hands-on and interactive sessions from across disciplinary and theoretical frameworks. The power of community and organizing comes in many forms! The power of equity and coalition building across differences. The power of mass mobilization in defending democracy, which must be actively cultivated and never taken for granted. The power of counting and being counted, both literally (as in vote counting and census taking) and figuratively (as in asserting that each individual – YOU! – matter!). The power of mathematics and science as tools for social justice. The power of statistics to make visible the uneven impacts of COVID-19, housing, education, work, and so many other stories about who we are and what we need to change. And finally, the power of collectivist worldviews to imagine beyond the hyper-individualism that has led to so many injustices in our world.

We welcome the many perspectives and approaches present in our community, and we especially appreciate submissions that are interactive, student-centered, and activity/action-oriented in their approach.
