Job opportunity:  Communications & Marketing Assistant

We are looking for a person to help raise awareness of Sonoma Mountain during SMP’s 25thanniversary year. This will be done primarily through promoting eventscoinciding with “The Year of Sonoma Mountain” and publication of our new book, Where the World Begins: Sonoma Mountain Stories and Images.

You will work with the volunteer Board on a variety of tasks and projects. We seek a self-starter who loves the land, is big picture & detail oriented, mailing list and social media savvy,and enthusiastic. This is a great opportunity to be closely involved with a small conservation non-profit and a great group of mountain-lovers.

Days/hours flexible. Work remotely, part-time 5-10 hours/week.

Job Description and Tasks:

  • Assist with fundraising events and planning.
  • Community outreach, including newsletter, GoFundMe, and social media.
  • Potential Excel spreadsheetmaintenance and social media post scheduling.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Can pick up new web & computer tools quickly
  • Communications and social media marketing & scheduling experience(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
  • Familiarity with MailChimp, Hootsuite, MSOffice,and Google Suite platforms
  • Basic administrative skills
  • Works well independently and in collaboration
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Possesses functional knowledge and/or personal experience with WordPress
  • Excellent written and oral skills
