Summary
Under general supervision, the Curriculum Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and ensuring the academic excellence of assigned education and community engagement programs. Work involves considerable public contact and is characterized by attention to detail, coordination of multiple tasks, collaboration with others, and maintenance of high standards of customer service.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Duties include developing program content aligning with current education pedagogy/state standards, teaching artist contracting and management, budgeting, logistical execution, as well as program and contractor assessment. Assigned education and community engagement programs include Artists in the Schools, Ukulele Program, Dancers Unite, Summer Camps, Set the Stage, After School programs such as Mariachi Ensemble, and others as assigned.

Artists in the Schools (AIS; Kennedy Center Residencies, Ukulele Program, Dancers Unite) 65%
• Mentor contracted artists to develop curriculum that aligns with state academic content standards and appropriate classroom management
• Serve as liaison between artist and classroom teachers
• Work with team to identify artists for AIS
• Manage contracts with artists and fulfill payments
• Process AIS applications from school sites
• Oversee ongoing evaluation and assessment of artists in the program
• Schedule, facilitate, and accompany artists on classroom visits
• Promote interest and cultivate participation for programs
• Track and assess data to align with programmatic and development needs
• Implement evaluation process to be utilized by artists, teachers, and students

Teaching Artistry 15%
• Develop and implement an arts-integrated English Language Leaners/Strategic English curriculum as a part of LBC’s AIS program.
• Teach as necessary
• Complete Teaching Artist Training as well as Professional Development trainings as relevant

LBC Summer and After School Programs 10%
• Work closely with team to execute the tactical plans (i.e. identify teaching artists, subject matter, schedules, etc.)
• Coordinate activities for all camps and after school programs in tandem with Community Engagement Coordinator
• Track and assess data to align with programmatic and development needs
• Implement evaluation process to be utilized by artists, teachers, and students

Other Projects (included but not limited to) 10%
• Work with ECE staff to coordinate team programs, including Posada Navideña, Fiesta de Independencia
• Coordinate special projects as needed
• Assist with ECE collateral for Marketing department
• Create/Revise Set the Stage Materials to complement School Shows

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in arts education or related field required; 3 to 5 years experience involving the planning, selection, promotion, and coordination and content development of arts education and community-based programs in a performing arts center, public facility, or arts organization. Teaching experience and Spanish-speaking skills strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of state and local education system as it relates to the services the Center provides via Education & Community Engagement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with teachers, children, and patrons
• Comfort with classroom environments
• Excellent skills in planning, organization, research, and time management
• Ability to speak effectively to groups
• Understanding of the budgeting process within non-profits
• Comfort with providing feedback and evaluations to teaching artists and interns
• Ability to represent the Center and the goals of LBC ECE department by leading and collaborating across a broad range of other arts organizations in the community
• Working knowledge of planning, administration, negotiation, evaluation, and assessment principles, techniques, and methods applicable to arts programming
• Working knowledge of the performing and visual arts as they relate to education, community involvement and audience engagement
• Microsoft suite and other programs as needed
• Excellent customer experience skills

Manual Dexterity: Must be able to operate a computer and telephone
Physical Effort: Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day

Working Conditions: Required to work on a computer 5-7 hours per day, weekend work schedule required
