ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

In this workshop, each student will felt a beautiful Navajo Churro fleece into a rug to take home. These rugs are very artistic and in raw form they show the size and structure of that specific sheep. All the fleeces came from Tanya and Greg at McKenzie Creek Ranch in Cazadero, California.

The fleeces have not been cleaned, but have been skirted. This is a fun, outdoor, old school, manual work project. Be ready to get dirty and put in some ‘ol fashioned elbow grease.

All materials are included.

We will have a potluck lunch, giving everyone time to socialize with the instructor and fellow students.

What to bring:

  • Something to share for the potluck lunch
  • Personal beverages and snacks
  • Layered clothing (that you don’t mind getting dirty) for variations in weather
  • Notebook and camera if desired

The instructor:

Heidi Harris is the founder of West County Fiber Arts. To learn more about her, please visit our Teachers page.

The location:

West County Fiber Arts is the studio of felt artist Heidi Harris, on a beautiful 1-acre property in rural Sonoma County, California. Classes will take place both indoors and in the garden.
