Sonoma State University Library Galleries

The Sonoma State University Library Gallery program enriches the intellectual, educational, and cultural life of the Sonoma State community through exhibits by student and alumnae artists, regional artists, traveling exhibitions, and selections from the University Library’s unique collections. Exhibits are intended to align with the SSU mission and curriculum and inspire discussion and debate beyond the gallery walls.

North Bay Fires Anniversary Exhibit

In recognition of the one year anniversary of the Sonoma and Napa County fires, the University Library Gallery is seeking creative and documentary works that reflect on these events. The North Bay Fires Anniversary exhibit seeks to bring artists and documentarians into dialogue with each other and with the SSU community to explore the impact of the fires on Sonoma County and the ongoing process of recovery.

The works will be on display for the duration of the fall semester to better incorporate the works and themes into academic courses, co-curricular activities, and other University Library events. The main Library Gallery will be used to exhibit creative works responding to the fires and the other gallery, 2North, will exhibit documentary works.

Selection process

Interested artists should submit jpegs of their work via e-mail to Mary Wegmann (mary.wegmann@sonoma.edu) no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday July 2, 2018. Images of artwork should be accompanied by the following information: title, year, medium, and framed dimensions, insurance value and a statement no longer than 200 words about the artist and their work. The University Library Art Committee, in consultation with the Dean of the University Library, will select works for the exhibit.
