PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Building Capacity for Strategic Arts Initiatives

About this virtual series:
This leadership series is open to California educators, including school, district, and county leaders, arts coordinators and TOSAs, and community arts partners, interested in strengthening and applying their strategic planning skills for a variety of purposes including district and county strategic arts plans or similar planning efforts related to the Arts and Music in Schools Funding and Accountability Act.
This hands-on, practical training will take leaders through the process, step-by-step, to build the confidence needed to conduct and facilitate plans from the school site level, to the district level to the county level. This five-part series will be based on guidance in the State Board adopted California Arts Education Framework and the field-tested Strategic Arts Education Planning Guide: Expanding Access to the Arts in School and Communities,
4th edition. It is meant to support actual strategic planning work in progress or being planned by participants. It will include topics such as reviewing fundamental components of arts education programs currently in place, as well as mapping goals, strategic directions and key actions to expand equity in arts education programs. Participants will explore methods for building leadership and consensus, and expand understanding of how to leverage available funding streams to support growth and expansion efforts.
