6th Street Playhouse Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Holidays Shop Local, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, Theatre, Youth Arts Education The Playhouse was created in 2004 by the merger of two of Sonoma County’s most prominent and oldest theatre companies, Santa Rosa Players and Actor’s Theatre. Together, with the help of G.K. Hardt and other community leaders and donors, the Playhouse renovated the 107-year-old Del Monte cannery in the Historic Railroad Square District. The $1.3 million dollar renovation resulted in a state-of-the-art theatre which opened to wide acclaim in 2005. It is the only theatre space designed by theatre artists for theatre in Sonoma County. In 2007, the Playhouse added the 99-seat Studio Theatre in another part of the same warehouse building. This theatre was especially designed for the production and development of new, cutting-edge plays. In 2010 additional classroom and rehearsal space was added. From the beginning, the Playhouse has provided a high quality School of Drama that provides a year-round program of affordable theatre classes and on-stage experiences for children, youth and adults. The Playhouse is unique in its willingness to include all levels of ability, from professional to community actors. Annually, the Playhouse reaches over 30,000 patrons, residents and visitors with over 200 performances (14 professional productions), 7 shows on the main stage, 7 shows in the Studio Theatre, a Holiday Cabaret series, 3 fundraising events, new play readings; winter, spring and fall School of Drama youth productions and adult classes; a summer theatre camp for children and youth, as well as numerous special events, cabarets, staged readings, workshops and presentations.

Artstart Adult Arts Education, Art Gallery, Creative Design, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Nonprofit, Visual Arts, Youth Arts Education Artstart is an award-winning, 501(c)3 non-profit educational arts organization serving all of Sonoma County since 1999. Our mission is to provide mentoring and stimulating arts work experience for Sonoma County youth, while creating publicly and privately commissioned art for our community. WE PROVIDE TRAINING We hire young people ages 14-20 to apprentice under the mentorship of professional artists. WE CREATE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ART Artstart works with public entities as well as private clients to make beautiful art ranging from very large pieces of public art to small works, such as painted or mosaic furniture, and works on canvas. WE COLLABORATE By working with other Sonoma County Arts organizations we expand our program and support community endeavors. A selection of past partner organizations include: Community Action Partnership (CAP), The Santa Rosa Downtown Arts District, Artquest, Museums of Sonoma County, KRCB, Sonoma County Library, The Imaginists, SOFA Arts District, The Rural Cemetery Historical Society, and the City of Santa Rosa and Department of Parks and Recreation.

Cazadero Music Camp Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Holidays Shop Local, Kids/Family, Music, Nonprofit, Sports/Outdoors, Youth Arts Education Cazadero Music Camp brings the love of music and learning to youth. We provide a nurturing, inspirational environment for young musicians ages 9-18. For more than 65 years, Cazadero has offered a dynamic music education program that strikes a thoughtful balance between in-depth music education and carefree summer camp fun. Caz is set on 33 acres near the Russian River in Sonoma County where young musicians learn together under a canopy of spectacular redwood trees. Our vision is to bring the transformative Caz experience to as many youth as possible. Combining music and nature in a truly unique setting, young musicians develop a love of music which lasts a lifetime. Our impact is evident in the inspired performances that close each session and the heartfelt evaluations of the young musicians themselves. Our Programs

Cazadero inspires over 1,400 youth during a typical year through two complementary music programs, Summer Music Camp, and JumpStart in Music. Our Summer Music Camp brings together a diverse and talented student body from across the Bay Area and beyond. Campers work closely with skilled Conductors, talented Music Faculty, and a devoted Camp Staff. They discover their love of music, develop their musicianship, gain confidence in their playing, and make lasting friendships. Learn more. JumpStart in Music is a low-cost, high-impact weekend version of our Summer Music Camp for school and school district music programs. JumpStart brings Sonoma County and Bay Area public school students, their music teachers and high school mentors together for a three day, condensed immersion program which produces some remarkable results.

Our mission is to inspire curiosity and creativity through joyful, transformative experiences. Our vision is to ensure that all children have access to innovative play, creating more opportunities to empower the next generation of leaders, inventors, thinkers, and dreamers. The Children’s Museum uses the science of childhood brain development as the framework for its exhibits and activities. Interior and exterior spaces -- including Ella's Art Studio -- offer a creative and stimulating playground for young children that is unparalleled in Sonoma County. CMOSC’s continuum of arts programs, Arts for All, supports children’s exploration of artistic media, cultural influences, and self-expression. Led by trained staff, children gain a creative edge by experiencing arts and crafts, music, exploration, interactive exhibits, and transformative play.

Cloverdale Historical Society Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, History/Heritage, Library, Museum, Nonprofit, Special Events The Cloverdale Historical Society is a 501 C 3 Non-profit corporation that operates the History Museum/History Cener and the Gould-Shaw House c 1862, on the National Register of Historic Place, both open to the public. Multi-cultural programs and exhibits from the Cloverdale area. Research library and Museum Collection of photos, documents, artifacts and ephemera. The Cloverdale Sculpture Trail is a collaborative program.

De Colores Arts Adult Arts Education, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Literature/Poetry, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Visual Arts De Colores Arts is a non-profit organization for young adults 16+ of all abilities. We create inclusive space for connection and self-expression through the arts. We offer a community integrated, person-centered program, utilizing art as the medium to improve lives. De Colores Arts was formed to enliven the intrinsic motivation of neurodiverse participants through their engagement with each other and through artistic means. Our team is comprised of artists, therapists and educators. In 2023 De Colores Arts is thrilled to expand its presence from the South Bay/ San Francisco/ Marin to Sonoma and Napa counties! Our goal is to be accessible across communities, regional centers, and organizations that provide social and vocational services to those of all abilities. With this, we address the fundamental human right to an inclusive, connected, and joyful life.

As a cornerstone of Sonoma State University’s commitment to the arts, the Green Music Center is a place to witness artistic inspiration through year-round programming, serving as home to the Sonoma State University Music Department, the Santa Rosa Symphony, and Sonoma Bach. The mission of the Green Music Center is to present the most compelling artists of our time, to investigate ideas, and to provide access to diverse artistic experiences that educate, connect, and inspire Sonoma State University and neighboring North Bay communities. Built to bring together artists, students, families, music-lovers, and more, the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University is a gathering place for our diverse communities in Sonoma County to explore and enjoy the things that move and inspire us. The center includes the 1,400-seat Weill Hall, with a rear wall that opens to lawn seating for a unique summertime experience, and the intimate 240-seat Schroeder Hall.

We endeavor to thrill, challenge, and engage audiences with ideas that make us think more, laugh more, and feel more. With the highest artistic standards and the region's most talented theatre artists, we produce a professional season of ambitious performances in search of what is best in ourselves and in the human spirit. We select shows written within the past 6 years and never presented in Sonoma County before. They may have had successful runs in other major cities. Our audience is hungry for new, edgy, provocative and left leaning works. ABOUT THE STUDIO THEATRE The 2,500 square foot Studio Theatre is located at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts and can be accessed from the South Parking Lot. It contains its own box office, lobby, tech booth, intimate 60 seat theatre, dressing rooms, scene and costume shop and classroom space. The new STUDIO THEATRE is the artistic home of Young Actors STUDIO and Left Edge THEATRE. Young Actors Studio provides training and performance opportunities to young people aged 6-18. Left Edge Theatre is a professionally oriented live theatre company presenting Sonoma County premieres of plays written within the past 6 years.

With these basic human attributes ingrained into the youth of our communities, enlightenment is assured for our future. Our mission here at the LDEI is to fill the education gap created by the mainstream. Our vision is to see every child learn to appreciate their self-worth, resilience and power. Social emotional skills gained from our program are self-confidence, teamwork, and perseverance. Success of the program will be measured in three ways; by the obvious joy in the children's minds and hearts and the culminating event produced, and an online anonymous survey students and parents can fill out to give feedback. Historically after school programs focused on either just physical content or on academic content, here at LDEI, we understand children are multifaceted and deserve to have every aspect of their being served. Our program broadens children's horizons by teaching them…to keep going when its hard and that's when things pay off. Our program develops character by having students work closely together, building an interdependence that shows working on the same goal moves all forward. Building much needed community awareness. Goals Instill empowerment, self-determination and a sense of accomplishment to the children of the area to instill Self-confidence, Teamwork, Enlightenment for their future.

The Arts Center is located in the heart of the Sonoma wine country and ranked among California’s top performing arts presenters. Together with its resident companies, the Center presents more than 100 performances in music, dance, theater, renowned speakers, and comedy; provides education programs serving 50,000+ children and adults; and hosts nearly 1,000 community events a year. Owned and operated by the Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation, the Center relies on charitable community donations to achieve its mission – to enrich, educate, and entertain.

Main Stage West Creative Sonoma Grantee, Holidays Shop Local, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, Theatre Main Stage West Mission: Main Stage West is a group of professional theater artists producing new plays, world premieres and re-envisioned classics in an intimate setting, at affordable prices designed to a to educate and enrich its community. Main Stage West and its parent corporation, Performing Artists Coalition for Theater, were founded in April 2011 by a group of veteran and emerging performing and visual artists. MSW’s long term goals are: to widen the impact and improve the quality of professional performing arts in the North Bay; to revitalize the theater space at 104 North Main Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472; to provide artistic educational opportunities for youth and adults; and provide a vital meeting place for professional performing artists both to build and showcase theatrical and musical performances in an intimate dialogue with the residents of Sebastopol and the North Bay. Since its inception, Main Stage West has produced a staggering 49 plays, seven of them World Premieres. We have also hosted productions by other regional theaters, provided a venue for the Sebastopol Film Festival, local gallery showings and musicians to showcase their work. Productions, Education Programs and Events Main Stage West regularly produces eight fully staged plays each season. We provide paid and volunteer opportunities for visual artists, designers, musicians, costumers, actors, directors, and stage managers. Over the past alone we have employed more than 100 artists and dozens of volunteers. We have also served as a gallery for the visual arts and a venue for local concerts, lectures, and meetings. Our Summer Theater Camp engages young actors of ages 10 to 17 to study and perform Shakespeare during a three-week long intensive taught by seasoned theater professionals. They study acting, voice, stage combat, juggling, dancing and singing. The program culminates in a public performance at Main Stage West. Critical Praise Main Stage West has consistently received the highest critical praise, with four and five star reviews for every production, as well as awards from the Bay Area Theater Critics Circle, Marquis Theater Awards, the City of Sebastopol and listings in the North Bay Bohemian’s Top Ten Torn Tickets for every year.

Pegasus Theater Company Creative Sonoma Grantee, Performing Arts, Theatre Founded in 1998, Pegasus Theater Company is an all volunteer company that produces plays, staged readings, special events, and its annual Tapas New Short Play Festival. It is a California non profit located in Guerneville.

Petaluma Historical Museum Creative Sonoma Grantee, History/Heritage, Holidays Shop Local, Library, Museum, Museum and Gallery Memberships Preserving the Unique History of Petaluma and Providing Educational and Cultural Services to the Community. The former Carnegie library now houses Petaluma poultry, dairy, and Miwok Indian history exhibits from the 1850s. The cornerstone for this stately Carnegie Library was laid in 1904. The building, designed by local architect Brainerd Jones and built from locally quarried stone, features the largest free-standing leaded glass dome in Northern California. The building is in the neo-classical style, featuring original fan-glass windows, round leaded-glass windows, also original interior wood paneling and columns. It also houses a fine research library.

We provide programming, instruments, lessons, and performance opportunities to people with limited access. We believe music has the power to transform lives both internally and collectively as well as enrich our community.
