DENNIS KOHN, professional photographer, teacher, world traveler, image maker, pioneer, environmentalist, and student of life, is as diverse as his background indicates. Graduated with Honors from Pennsylvania State University in l969 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Dennis continued his education through l971 with graduate studies in photography.   In 1975, to follow his destiny, he left teaching to open the first DENNIS KOHN STUDIOS in New Hope, Pennsylvania.  After a split in a business partnership, the first studio was closed and DENNIS KOHN STUDIOS in Laguna Beach, California was born. Several years later, Dennis would re-locate to the Bay area where he has been working for the past 30 years.  In l982 through l985, Dennis returned to teaching by offering weekend photographic seminars to places as Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and Monterey and Carmel.  These workshops taught the "Art of Photographing the Landscape".

Escolar is an art and design research collective working at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and cultural production within an anti-capitalist and de-colonial framework.

We maintain a curatorial practice and an exhibition venue, a residency with production facilities and support, provide design and fabrication support for local activists and maintain a one-acre experimental farm with an emphasis on native flora.

-We provide housing, food and production support for visiting and local artists.

-We produce public art exhibitions and complementary workshops, talks and symposiums.

-We foster a symbiotic relationship between cultural, agricultural and land-use practices.

-We build linkages between theoretical and material labor/ modes of work.

-We organize a space where creative work is separate from the cultural hierarchies and professional roles of global finance capital.

-We develop, explore and deepen communal understandings of regionally specific land management practices and their histories.

-We help provide local youth with access to a world class network of artists, musicians and thinkers.

-We provide educational programs to emerging artists and the public on regenerative agriculture.

GlassWing Mural Co. is the creation of three visionary friends determined to build community through art.

Mary Christensen, Kaya Rose, and Elizabeth Zindler founded GlassWing with a shared passion for art and desire to transform public spaces. This emerging mural company has set out on a mission to beautify their surroundings from the inside out.

It is a part of our mission to collaborate with local organizations, youth centers, and educational institutions to foster community involvement, inviting all to share their own stories and ideas and have a hand in creation. We hope this inclusive approach makes our murals not only leaves a lasting impact but also represents the collective identity and aspirations of those who call that neighborhood home.

Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County is an active Non-Profit (501c3) Guild that meets bi-monthly to promote the art of quilting to all ages.  Our gatherings include demonstrations,  lectures, workshops and showing off the amazing quilts we have made.   We have been very active in the community delivering quilts, teddy bears, pillowcases and toys to not only survivors of “The 2017 Fires” but for many years have participated in donating comfort quilts and toys to the needs of children in the greater Santa Rosa area.  Our members continually reach out to young children and elderly in the community with quilting instruction and supplies.  

The first weekend of June each year we sponsor the Wine Country Quilt Show & Sale at the SR Veteran's Memorial Building with over 300 quilts, vendors, a boutique of handmade crafts and a featured artist.

MorninGloria's is a handmade beadwork small business that focuses on unique beadwork creations made with teeny tiny seed beads. You can find MorninGloria's at various local events and art fairs throughout Sonoma County. 

Fortunately (and unfortunately), ceramics is a highly process driven activity. There are at least six steps to make a single item, from weighing and wedging the clay to final firing, and that does not include the inactive time of waiting for the clay to get to the optimal state and checking on items to make sure they are drying properly. Porcelain is fussy and requires more attention than other clay bodies. Jee’s process includes the additional time consuming steps of carving and texturing her pieces and cleaning up those areas. Her glazing process is often meticulous. she uses color sparingly in a supportive role, so that the foci of her pieces are texture and carving. On average, a single piece will take several weeks before it is ready to be loved.

Jee has always been drawn to reductive sculpture because of its merciless process and often awe-inspiring results. Removing material in order to reveal a finished form requires deliberate actions with permanent consequences. There are no “do-overs.” Although working with clay is more forgiving than chipping away at stone, her work is reminiscent of reductive sculpture. She starts with a form, usually a functional vessel, examines the salient characteristics, and then carves away and texturize the surface to reveal a revised object that feels true to its essence. Unlike some sculpture her objects are meant to be touched and held, since utility is a core characteristic. Jee enjoys making useful objects that evoke emotion.
