Becoming Independent - Professional Art Program Art Gallery, Business, Education, Fine Crafts, Literature/Poetry, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Visual Arts Becoming Independent (BI) helps people with developmental disabilities live meaningful and productive lives. At BI, we realize that creative expression is an integral part of the human experience. The BI Professional Art Program fulfills this commitment to exploring and developing personal creativity by providing artists with inspiration, instruction, encouragement, and opportunities for exhibitions and sales.

We focus on offering our artists the opportunity to explore multiple mediums for their creative growth. Our classes also include community trips to museums, galleries, and special events to assist in further enrichment of the arts.

Disciplines include:

Focused art classes, which include – art history, photography, painting, graphic design, ceramics, animation, and much more.
Community access to local galleries and events
Artist in Residency opportunities
Artist lecture series
Art sales
Participation in local and national art exhibits

In October of 2016 we acquired a studio/gallery space at Fulton Crossing Artist Studios. We are thrilled for this opportunity for our artists to be able to work side by side with other local artists. BI’s professional artists, as well as other individuals active in BI's Innovative Education program, will be able to use this as a community access spot to expand their creative passions. Fulton Crossing affords BI a space for art sales, special events, and is at the center of Sonoma County’s vibrant art culture.

Colombia. I have worked in many audiovisual projects, documentaries and institutional videos for government institutions and non-profit organizations. Right now, I am based in the north SF bay area, and my goal is to bring the spirit and passion from the Andes and Colombia to Northern California.

Books On Stage Literature/Poetry Books on Stage is a program of the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center and has been bringing great poets and writers to the stage in Cloverdale since 2014.

California Poets In The Schools Adult Arts Education, Education, Kids/Family, Literature/Poetry, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Youth Arts Education California Poets in the Schools (CalPoets) empowers students of all ages throughout California to express their creativity, imagination, and intellectual curiosity through writing, performing and publishing their own poetry. We train and coordinate a multicultural network of published poets, who bring their passion and craft to public and private schools, juvenile halls, hospitals, libraries and other community settings. The Sonoma County branch of California Poets in the schools carries out the CalPoets' mission within our county.

Through theatre, music, dance, and storytelling, we aim to strengthen community ties, broaden the cultural horizons of the entire community, and help prepare people of all ages for careers in the performing arts. Our History: The Cloverdale Performing Arts Center, Inc., a non-profit organization, was originally formed in May 2007 to provide a vehicle for education in, production and development of the performing arts, included but not limited to drama, musical and related cultural productions and to encourage community participation in all aspects thereof. The establishment of a performance space was intended to aid in the ongoing improvement of rundown areas; bolster the economic future and vitality of not only our downtown through increased traffic, but also our hotels and restaurants; and to provide a forum for our community to gather to share in what we, the community, can create. The Cloverdale Grange was our first home. That building, located at 201 Commercial Street, was to have been remodeled into a professional theatre built with funds from the City of Cloverdale, but then the building formerly known as Clover Fitness Center located 209 North Cloverdale Blvd became available early in 2008. CPAC then entered into a contract with the City of Cloverdale to purchase and renovate that building. Cloverdale Performing Arts Center will continue to manage the use of the Grange Building as a performance space, theatre annex, office, classroom and workshop space.

Creative North Group Arts Council/Alliance, Creative Design, Literature/Poetry, Performing Arts, Visual Arts Creative North Group is a collective of independent artists, writers, and communications strategists working as community activists to fuel the written, visual and performing arts in West County. Seeded with the generous help from Creative Sonoma, CNG's newest project, the FLATBED MUSIC FESTIVAL, (originally slated for June of 2020) is moving down the road to new dates when limitations on live music gatherings are lifted. The Flatbed features Sonoma-grown, independent musical artists who perform on multiple stages over three days. This intimate festival bonds the community, saturating the streets of the farm town of Sebastopol while bleeding into the back roads of West County. With over twenty performances, the Flatbed will reach out further to embrace the uniqueness of West County through oral history recordings and tours of legendary recording studios. Play It Forward Music School is the fiscal sponsor of the festival. Through sponsorships, grants and ticket sales of the Flatbed, this non-profit will be able to expand on their mission to provide free musical instruments, free private lessons and creative programs devoted to serve those music students with limited resources in our community.

De Colores Arts Adult Arts Education, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Literature/Poetry, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Visual Arts De Colores Arts is a non-profit organization for young adults 16+ of all abilities. We create inclusive space for connection and self-expression through the arts. We offer a community integrated, person-centered program, utilizing art as the medium to improve lives. De Colores Arts was formed to enliven the intrinsic motivation of neurodiverse participants through their engagement with each other and through artistic means. Our team is comprised of artists, therapists and educators. In 2023 De Colores Arts is thrilled to expand its presence from the South Bay/ San Francisco/ Marin to Sonoma and Napa counties! Our goal is to be accessible across communities, regional centers, and organizations that provide social and vocational services to those of all abilities. With this, we address the fundamental human right to an inclusive, connected, and joyful life.

Escolar is an art and design research collective working at the intersection of regenerative agriculture and cultural production within an anti-capitalist and de-colonial framework.

We maintain a curatorial practice and an exhibition venue, a residency with production facilities and support, provide design and fabrication support for local activists and maintain a one-acre experimental farm with an emphasis on native flora.

-We provide housing, food and production support for visiting and local artists.

-We produce public art exhibitions and complementary workshops, talks and symposiums.

-We foster a symbiotic relationship between cultural, agricultural and land-use practices.

-We build linkages between theoretical and material labor/ modes of work.

-We organize a space where creative work is separate from the cultural hierarchies and professional roles of global finance capital.

-We develop, explore and deepen communal understandings of regionally specific land management practices and their histories.

-We help provide local youth with access to a world class network of artists, musicians and thinkers.

-We provide educational programs to emerging artists and the public on regenerative agriculture.

MovingWriting Adult Arts Education, Dance, Education, Literature/Poetry MovingWriting: Embodied Expressive Writing is an innovative modality of creativity combining movement/dance and expressive writing for personal growth.

In MovingWriting workshops, we play with movement/dance and written words to help us connect with our deep and creative selves, in the company of a supportive circle. Giving voice to our own stories and witnessing the stories of others brings healing, aliveness, and connection with others.
