Rivertown Revival Creative Design, Education, Environmental, Festivals/Markets, History/Heritage, Kids/Family, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Special Events, Visual Arts Rivertown Revival is an art and music festival designed to celebrate the Petaluma Slough (aka river). It is a fund raiser for Friends of the Petaluma River (FOPR), but also an off-shoot of its mission and programing. FOPR believes that if we can facilitate a love affair between the Community and the river, the Community will want to conserve and protect it for generations to come. With the support of music director Josh Windmiller we feature local bands in the Americana style of music and beyond. We have had local sculpture artists line our paths, and have featured multiple kinetic sculpture artists with large scale, and often interactive work. Artists who have participated in past festivals include: David Best, Scott Collinson, Kevin Clark, and Stephen Lockert. This year, thanks to the Creative Responders Grant, we will have an interactive art piece by Stephen Lockert, and a collaborative piece between visual artist Mae Blackmore and music by The Crux. Programming at this festival includes multiple playful opportunities to create something out of nothing. For instance, in the past we have invited attendees to pound metal into flowers for an 80 foot Flower Tower that was being built for Burning Man. We have encouraged participants to use provided ‘ingredients’ to contribute to a giant boat alter. We have taught children, and adults, how to make rope, tie sailing knots, juggle, make boats out of wine corks, dye cloth naturally, make puppets out of socks and hula hoops out of irrigation tubing. We are an eco-friendly event that is modeled after turn of the century river festivals so we avoid all things plastic and mass produced. We decorate the event with found and recycled materials only and like to brag that we turn trash into cool junk! ;) We create an environment where we encourage participants to imagine a world without televisions, iPhones and store bought toys. In a nutshell, we encourage participants to listen to music, get on the water, play, use their hands and make art.

Rocking Causes is a musician-focused crowdfunding platform that connects artists and their fans to the charities and causes making a difference in the world.

Using a popular crowdfunding platform, artists are able to create a campaign page in support of a cause they’re passionate about. Fans are incentivized to participate and give to the campaign through exclusive experiences and merchandise, VIP tickets, bonus tracks, and more.

By harnessing the power of collective action, Rocking Causes helps introduce the idea of grassroots philanthropy to a whole new generation of young people, and connects charities and causes with an engaged network of supporters.

Roustabout Theater Creative Sonoma Grantee, Dance, Education, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Theatre, Youth Arts Education Roustabout Theater is the longest-running Resident Theater company of the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Sonoma County. Their award-winning Apprentice Program is one of the leading theatrical training and performance programs for dedicated young actors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Roustabout Theater’s mission is creating vibrant professional theater focused on bringing to life less-frequently-produced plays. Roustabout’s Apprentice Program is an unparalleled actor training program in Sonoma County highlighting the talents of the county’s most extraordinary student performers through its professionally produced productions. Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse Adult Arts Education, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Kids/Family, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, School, Theatre, Youth Arts Education The Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse has a long history with Santa Rosa and has for over fifty years provides live theatrical entertainment for the surrounding community. The Playhouse is a venue consisting of two theaters. The GK Hardt Stage is a 184 seat theater that caters to Broadway style musicals and plays. The Monroe Stage is a more intimate Black Box three sided theater of 99 seats that features smaller comedies and dramas and is one of the most exciting venues to see a performance. The Mainstage and Black Box performances are presented throughout the year and total over 170 in one season. The 6th Street Playhouse also offers classes to adults, teens and youth interested in following the creative arts and developing theatrical skills. Over 300 students learn stage presence, song, dance, and stagecraft that includes technical sound, lighting, set design, and costume making. All students are given an opportunity to perform on either of our two public stages during a season's consisting seven student productions.

Just as the Theatre itself shines as one of the most memorable features of the Plaza, it also occupies a place in the hearts of many Sonomans. Over the past 25 years thousands of young people have performed in Witchie Poo Halloween shows, holiday shows, and Performing Arts Camps. Families cherish Roger and Diana Rhoten’s passion for the performing arts as a generator of leadership, self-confidence and creativity in their children. And going to a movie or a live performance at the Sebastiani is one of the defining experiences of life in our town. Films The Theatre has always brought the finest in film entertainment to Sonoma. With more screening areas we can do even more, bringing film series that will appeal to a variety of special interests -- films from other countries, cult classics as well as the standards, films that are “vintage” to the younger generation (Karate Kid or ET, anyone?) innovative food and film pairings, and even mini film festivals. Special Events The Sebastiani hosts many wonderful live performers, and with a new green room and an updated stage area, we can attract a great many more. Classical concerts, dance troupes, magic and cabaret, great names in literature, the arts, and politics—all will be able to bring their talents to enrich the artistic and intellectual life of Sonoma. Children’s Programs Nurturing the creativity, self-confidence, and talent of the next generation has always been the heart-felt mission of the Theatre. The Performing Arts Camp in the summer, Witchie Poo in the fall, and the holiday show in December are part of what mark the seasons in Sonoma. Generations of young people come back home to sing along with Witchie Poo; many of Sonoma’s young people have gone on to successful careers in the performing arts, and Roger and Diana Rhoten are trusted mentors to hundreds of young people who have found a second home at the Sebastiani.

Our Mission & Vision

Sonoma Conservatory of Dance's mission is to nurture the creative spirit of our community through dance. We at SCD envision a world filled with inspired and inspiring people, developing and using their talents for good.

Our Story:

Originally Founded as Sonoma Ballet Conservatory in 1970, Patty O’Reilly reenvisioned the studio as Sonoma Conservatory of Dance in 2005 after 12 years of directing the Vallejo Ballet Conservatory, which she had founded in 1993. Under the Artistic Direction of Ms. O’Reilly, SCD continues to offer the very highest quality classical ballet and dance instruction to youth and adults.

In 2016, Sonoma Conservatory of Dance transitioned into a public benefit corporation to better serve the community of Sonoma and to more effectively fulfill its mission of providing the youth (and adults) of Sonoma Valley and beyond an opportunity to grow artistically and technically through participation in our classes and productions.

As a nonprofit, we are able to serve as many students as possible regardless of financial circumstances. Our students grow as they train together under the mentorship of an excellent artistic staff who create an outstanding classroom environment as well as high-quality performances that we share with the public, thereby enhancing each student’s sense of self-mastery.

We expose students and audiences to a mix of culture through music, and dance and our full-length productions offer a blend of classical ballet with other cultural themes. Through our performances, we provide the community with an opportunity to gather together and enjoy an inspiring, enchanting event.

The studio’s students have been accepted into the most prestigious dance programs both locally, nationally and internationally, including: American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Kaatsbaan Extreme Ballet, and Royal Ballet School of Antwerp.

Other Notable Programs Include:

Boston BalletLINES Ballet, Colorado Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Orlando Ballet, Ballet West, Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Dance, Marymount Manhattan College Dance Department, and The Royal Ballet School of London.

To date, SCD students have competed in the Genée International Ballet Competition, Youth America Grand Prix and the RAD Dance Challenge.

Sonoma County Dancers United (SCDU) is a local youth-founded and fiscally sponsored non-profit organization. Our mission is to work with dance studios, schools, and organizations to promote dance and provide free dance opportunities for children and teens in Sonoma County.

We help introduce youth to dance in a professional setting, sparking their interest in the performing arts. As dance inspires creativity, promotes lifetime physical fitness values, and builds self-esteem, participants have the opportunity to be exposed to these benefits. SCDU Offers:

Symmetry Entertainment and Design is the dream child of Krysta Cook and is an organic extension of her passion for creating, performing and producing. Krysta is a Sonoma County native who began her own performance career as a belly dancer in her teens, which eventually led into the wild world of circus arts. She has been featured in magazines, books, radio shows and been flown around the Country to perform for elite Clients. She loved making her own costumes from a young age which eventually bloomed into making costumes and stage props for herself and artists she has worked with. She has been a catalyst in the growing arts scene in the North Bay over the past fifteen years, collaborating with other local visionaries to produce/co-produce ongoing successes such as Circus Maximus Sonoma County, SerLaMuse- an art affair, Rouge Dance Company as well as many other one-off specialty shows. Krysta began to challenge the status quo of local arts when she decided to incorporate wild costuming, custom event entertainment packages and a wide selection of top-notch artists ready to book with just one phone call. A one-stop-shop of specialty arts as born! Krysta is single Mother of a smart young man, an environmental advocate, Licensed Nurse, Certified Personal trainer, Certified Clinical HeartMath Provider and philanthropist for local non-profits.
