Sonoma County is home to more than 200 non-profit arts organizations along with 100s of other creative enterprises who work every day to enrich our lives with exhibits, performances, readings, happenings.  Sometimes, they are caretakers of our collective cultural identity.  Sometimes they are tour guides, leading us on an exploration into uncharted emotional waters.  And always, they are the critical threads that tie together the fabric of our creative community.  Browse this ever-growing gathering of our creative eco-system for ideas and opportunities.

Clientele includes CANVAS (Concierge Alliance of Napa Valley and Sonoma), Santa Rosa Salsa, the Flamingo Resort & Spa, San Diego Ballet, Duvall Productions, Luscious Noise, Conducting Preparations, and others.

Media affiliations include Made Local Magazine, Sonoma Magazine, the North Bay Bohemian, the Pacific Sun, the San Diego Reader, In Dance for San Francisco's Dancers' Group, and others.

Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County

Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County is an active Non-Profit (501c3) Guild that meets bi-monthly to promote the art of quilting to all ages.  Our gatherings include demonstrations,  lectures, workshops and showing off the amazing quilts we have made.   We have been very active in the community delivering quilts, teddy bears, pillowcases and toys to not only survivors of “The 2017 Fires” but for many years have participated in donating comfort quilts and toys to the needs of children in the greater Santa Rosa area.  Our members continually reach out to young children and elderly in the community with quilting instruction and supplies.  

The first weekend of June each year we sponsor the Wine Country Quilt Show & Sale at the SR Veteran's Memorial Building with over 300 quilts, vendors, a boutique of handmade crafts and a featured artist.

The mission of the Museum of Sonoma County is to engage and inspire our diverse community with art and history exhibitions, collections, and public programs that are inclusive, educational, and relevant.

Established in 1985, the Museum of Sonoma County (Sonoma County Museum) presents 12-15 rotating art and history exhibitions per year. Located in Downtown Santa Rosa, the Museum welcomes over 15,000 visitors per year through general admission, tours, school programs, public programs, and special events. The Museum also maintains a permanent collection of over 18,000 objects that document the region's rich history and celebrate local artists.

Mission Statement/Purpose:

Bringing the world together through music, dance, art and cultural exchange. Our purpose is to provide musical instruments of the world to the public, and to promote all teachers, students, artists, enthusiasts and performers regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious or sexual orientation.

Core Programs and Services:

The Musical Instrument Library has two core services: Lending of musical instruments and providing a venue for musicians, dancers, artists, and children to study, cultivate, teach, and perform.

Racial Equity Statement:

The Musical Instrument Library strives to represent the world through music, art, and dance. We provide a safe space where everyone has access to musical instruments, education, dance, and art- especially to those who would usually not have the opportunity. It is our goal to appreciate and hold sacred the rich, musical cultures of the world, highlighting and uplifting artists from the cultures and places of origin and providing them with a platform, stage, classroom, instruments and other resources with which to cultivate and share their art. The Musical Instrument Library provides free and sliding scale services in order to make these things more accessible to those who are faced with bias, oppression, institutionalized racism, and economic hardship. By providing a platform for this education, we can combat ignorance and promote understanding and respect for all human beings.

Nancy Woods Art

ARTIST STATEMENT

Nancy Woods lives in Sonoma County and is a northern California native. She received her BFA from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

Her work has evolved from early-on abstract created with modeling paste and acrylic paints to oil painting of animals and local landscapes. She has always loved color. She has begun expressing this in her current work which may lead in yet another direction. Only time will tell.

Her love of animals is apparent when you see her dog paintings. She likes to begin with the eyes. “The eyes need to draw you into the painting so you will stay and enjoy the rest.”

Nancy was inspired to begin oil painting a few years ago by Samantha Buller, another Sonoma County artist. And, she passed her inspiration onto her Father who began to paint at age 79.

We are a non profit arts organization that offers several levels of participation.
 
Along with workshops and events we are also a lively community of Studio Printers finding inventive ways to employ the ancient art of letterpress printing & book arts.
North Bay Makers/180 Studios
North Bay Makers/180 Studios Corporation, Decorative Arts, Education, Fine Crafts, Media, Nonprofit, Product/Industrial Design, School, Special Events, Visual Arts 180 Studios, a 13,000 square foot, makerspace located in Santa Rosa, CA., is designed to provide a dynamic environment for multigenerational collaboration that supports the teaching, learning, and practicing of Industrial Arts, Creative Arts, Engineering, and Design. A variety of professionally taught workshops, and volunteer mentors, encourage skill development, discovery, and the creative process. Flexible use studio space is available for modest rent, to individuals pursuing more intense projects of their choosing and/or business development. Periodic community events offer enticing opportunities for “hands-on” experiences, art shows, and more. Professional equipment and technology, such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and more, provide individual makers access to high-end tools not otherwise affordable. Join us for engineering-oriented activities, such as software design, electronics, and robotics; traditional pursuits, such as woodworking and metal working; and craft making and artistic pursuits. Our mentorship programs have helped our students grow into teachers, directors, and tech management. We have a robust volunteering program for friends and family and welcome parent and caretaker involvement.

NorCal Public Media is a highly visible local arts, cultural, educational, news, and community information media hub, offering a unique service to the Bay Area in order to encourage full participation in community and society. NorCal Public Media expands options in providing and responding to new technologies through enhancement of technological functions and equipment. I started Pop Tha Trunk because I feel Sonoma County has so many amazing artists, most of which don't have anywhere to show or haven't gotten the confidence and need somewhere to start.

Our collective came together to offer artists and teachers of color the resources of space, programming, events, shows and activities to affect social and political change through art and community building. We believe this facilitates healing of the divisions within our diverse communities.
River Arts
River Arts Arts Council/Alliance, Association/Club/Group/Guild, Corporation, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Dance, Education, Festivals/Markets, Film/Video, Fine Crafts, Kids/Family, Media, Music, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Performing Arts, Special Events, Theatre, Visual Arts River Arts A Project to Advance a Vibrant Arts Community and Arts Center in the Lower Russian River Region The idea of having a dynamic and active arts organization in Guerneville, with the further goal of having an Arts and Community Center, has been a long-sought wish of many in the community. While Guerneville has, in the last decade or so, begun to establish itself at an arts-oriented town, with about a dozen galleries, a theater group, a community choir and numerous other creative activities, no organization has emerged to proactively support, encourage and champion the arts; nor is there an arts center, which nearly every other town in Sonoma County has. In March of 2021 a group of artists and others came together to form the nucleus of River Arts. In coordination with County Supervisor Lynda Hopkins the establishment of an actual Arts and Community Center is within reach. In order to launch this organization, activate the community and build support for such a center, River Arts is proceeding to enact an ambitious pilot agenda of events and programs for 2022. The major programs planned are: 1. Saturday Stroll Artwalk: We have revived and are coordinating the First Friday Artwalk (suspended during COVID) and moved it to the first Saturday of each month at the behest of the galleries. We plan to expand it this year with music, street vendors, food, and more. 2. Murals Project: We wish to put Guerneville on the map as a murals and public art destination. We have identified over 30 possible mural locations. We hope to create 5-6 murals during 2022 and a similar number each year thereafter for a number of years. We intend to invite public participation in some of the murals, including ones that will be done all or primarily by children. Even after the first set of murals are complete, we see this project extending into the future as a public art project, with continuous creation of public art throughout Guerneville. 3. Summer Art Festival: We are planning a Summer Arts Festival in September. The Festival will be centered around the iconic "old bridge" in the center of town, which is now a walking bridge over the Russian River, and will spill out into the town plaza on the north side of the bridge and the small park on the south side of the bridge. 4. Winter Crafts Fair: We are planning for a Winter Crafts Fair in December 2022. 5. Music in the Galleries: We are planning to have an occasional series of music events in certain galleries during 2022. We are seeking unusual or unique music that would be suitable for a gallery space. Our first event is an appearance by "4 Shillings Short" (https://4shillingsshort.com/home) at the Oli Gallery on April 5. 6. Art Auction: We have teamed with Forgotten Felines for an online Art Auction in Spring 2022. 7. CalTrans Coordination: River Arts is working to interact with CalTrans to beautify Guerneville and bring an aesthetic sense to the town that will be attractive to residents and visitors alike. 8. Arts District: River Arts is intending to apply for Cultural (Arts) district status with the state of California once the program re-opens for applications. The overriding goal of all of these programs is to knit together a stronger sense of community identity and kinship through the creative works and participation of all members of the community. Each of these is a pilot project. We will start off small, but our goal is that, over time, these will grow and develop into significant programs that will put the lower Russian River on the map as an arts destination.
Riverfront Art Gallery
Riverfront Art Gallery Art Gallery, Business, Retail, Visual Arts Riverfront Art Gallery, located in historic downtown Petaluma, features dozens of local artists in a spacious gallery with museum-quality lighting. We've been voted "Best of the North Bay" for "Best Art Gallery in Sonoma County in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.  We have also been voted "Petaluma's Peoples Choice" for "Best Art Gallery in Petaluma" in 2012, 2016 and 2017.
Rivertown Revival
Rivertown Revival Creative Design, Education, Environmental, Festivals/Markets, History/Heritage, Kids/Family, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Special Events, Visual Arts Rivertown Revival is an art and music festival designed to celebrate the Petaluma Slough (aka river).  It is a fund raiser for Friends of the Petaluma River (FOPR), but also an off-shoot of its mission and programing. FOPR believes that if we can facilitate a love affair between the Community and the river, the Community will want to conserve and protect it for generations to come. With the support of music director Josh Windmiller we feature local bands in the Americana style of music and beyond.  We have had local sculpture artists line our paths, and have featured multiple kinetic sculpture artists with large scale, and often interactive work.  Artists who have participated in past festivals include: David Best, Scott Collinson, Kevin Clark, and Stephen Lockert. This year, thanks to the Creative Responders Grant, we will have an interactive art piece by Stephen Lockert,  and a collaborative piece between visual artist Mae Blackmore and music by The Crux. Programming at this festival includes multiple playful opportunities to create something out of nothing.  For instance, in the past we have invited attendees to pound metal into flowers for an 80 foot Flower Tower that was being built for Burning Man.  We have encouraged participants to use provided ‘ingredients’ to contribute to a giant boat alter.  We have taught children, and adults,  how to make rope, tie sailing knots, juggle, make boats out of wine corks, dye cloth naturally, make puppets out of socks and hula hoops out of irrigation tubing. We are an eco-friendly event that is modeled after turn of the century river festivals so  we avoid all things plastic and mass produced.  We decorate the event with found and recycled materials only and like to brag that we turn trash into cool junk! ;) We create an environment where we encourage participants to imagine a world without televisions, iPhones and store bought toys.  In a nutshell, we encourage participants to listen to music,  get on the water, play, use their hands and make art.

Santa Rosa Photographic Society
Santa Rosa Photographic Society Association/Club/Group/Guild, Visual Arts Santa Rosa Photographic Society has been advancing the skills of photographers through, education, competition, and field experience for 46 years. SRPS is an informal, friendly, and welcoming club, with members at all skill levels from beginners to advanced masters. The club provides its members many opportunities to improve their photographic skills, learn new “digital darkroom” and print techniques and to participate in activities including monthly field trips, educational programs and competitions on the local, regional, and national level. We have recently added regular in-person social events which have been very popular with our members. SRPS members include extremely accomplished photographers who regularly win top honors in local and regional competitions and participate in exhibitions throughout Sonoma County and beyond. We welcome anyone interested in photography to attend our competitions and program meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at 6:30 pm.
