Linda Schroeter Artist Education, Visual Arts Linda J Schroeter (b. 1963, Australia) is a representational oil painter based out of Geyserville, Sonoma County. Linda has always had a passion for drawing and painting and has been drawn towards realism through inspiring Dutch masters of light such as Rembrandt van Rijn and Johannes Vermeer. Her most current body of work continues her exploration into important visual vocabulary in Western art, working in traditional methods inspired by nature and natural light. Her paintings all have a significant symbolic meaning and together form an allegorical visual treat for the viewer’s intellect to decipher making her paintings interact with both the artist’s intention and the viewer’s analysis.

With these basic human attributes ingrained into the youth of our communities, enlightenment is assured for our future. Our mission here at the LDEI is to fill the education gap created by the mainstream. Our vision is to see every child learn to appreciate their self-worth, resilience and power. Social emotional skills gained from our program are self-confidence, teamwork, and perseverance. Success of the program will be measured in three ways; by the obvious joy in the children's minds and hearts and the culminating event produced, and an online anonymous survey students and parents can fill out to give feedback. Historically after school programs focused on either just physical content or on academic content, here at LDEI, we understand children are multifaceted and deserve to have every aspect of their being served. Our program broadens children's horizons by teaching them…to keep going when its hard and that's when things pay off. Our program develops character by having students work closely together, building an interdependence that shows working on the same goal moves all forward. Building much needed community awareness. Living Your Wild Creativity Visual Arts Living Your Wild Creativity provides in-studio Abstract Art classes and workshops for adults of all levels. Suzanne Jacquot often has guest instructors and provides private mentoring as well in her large art studio. Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County is an active Non-Profit (501c3) Guild that meets bi-monthly to promote the art of quilting to all ages. Our gatherings include demonstrations, lectures, workshops and showing off the amazing quilts we have made. We have been very active in the community delivering quilts, teddy bears, pillowcases and toys to not only survivors of “The 2017 Fires” but for many years have participated in donating comfort quilts and toys to the needs of children in the greater Santa Rosa area. Our members continually reach out to young children and elderly in the community with quilting instruction and supplies.

The first weekend of June each year we sponsor the Wine Country Quilt Show & Sale at the SR Veteran's Memorial Building with over 300 quilts, vendors, a boutique of handmade crafts and a featured artist.

Established in 1985, the Museum of Sonoma County (Sonoma County Museum) presents 12-15 rotating art and history exhibitions per year. Located in Downtown Santa Rosa, the Museum welcomes over 15,000 visitors per year through general admission, tours, school programs, public programs, and special events. The Museum also maintains a permanent collection of over 18,000 objects that document the region's rich history and celebrate local artists.

Bringing the world together through music, dance, art and cultural exchange. Our purpose is to provide musical instruments of the world to the public, and to promote all teachers, students, artists, enthusiasts and performers regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious or sexual orientation.

Core Programs and Services:

The Musical Instrument Library has two core services: Lending of musical instruments and providing a venue for musicians, dancers, artists, and children to study, cultivate, teach, and perform.

Racial Equity Statement:

The Musical Instrument Library strives to represent the world through music, art, and dance. We provide a safe space where everyone has access to musical instruments, education, dance, and art- especially to those who would usually not have the opportunity. It is our goal to appreciate and hold sacred the rich, musical cultures of the world, highlighting and uplifting artists from the cultures and places of origin and providing them with a platform, stage, classroom, instruments and other resources with which to cultivate and share their art. The Musical Instrument Library provides free and sliding scale services in order to make these things more accessible to those who are faced with bias, oppression, institutionalized racism, and economic hardship. By providing a platform for this education, we can combat ignorance and promote understanding and respect for all human beings.

Nancy Woods Art Visual Arts

ARTIST STATEMENT

Nancy Woods lives in Sonoma County and is a northern California native. She received her BFA from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco.

Her work has evolved from early-on abstract created with modeling paste and acrylic paints to oil painting of animals and local landscapes. She has always loved color. She has begun expressing this in her current work which may lead in yet another direction. Only time will tell.

Her love of animals is apparent when you see her dog paintings. She likes to begin with the eyes. “The eyes need to draw you into the painting so you will stay and enjoy the rest.”

Nancy was inspired to begin oil painting a few years ago by Samantha Buller, another Sonoma County artist. And, she passed her inspiration onto her Father who began to paint at age 79.

We believe this facilitates healing of the divisions within our diverse communities.
