Our collective came together to offer artists and teachers of color the resources of space, programming, events, shows and activities to affect social and political change through art and community building. We believe this facilitates healing of the divisions within our diverse communities.

We are a group of individuals just like you – community-minded individuals with an interest in preserving performing arts.

With funding for arts disappearing in our schools, the responsibility for supporting the arts lies firmly with us. When we banded together to save the historic Raven Theater in downtown Healdsburg California, we had big dreams of enhancing the lives of every community member by offering a conveniently located, eclectic array of entertainment.

That same goal pushes us forward today, as we continue to look for ways to broaden our role as a gathering place, wow audiences with top-name acts, bring in both amateur and professional stage productions, add more world music and dance shows to our lineup, and enable a stimulating exchange of ideas through a speaker series. Did we mention that we want to do all of this in a first-rate theater environment? One of our key goals is to raise funds to improve Raven with dressing rooms, better seating, more bathrooms, offices, storage for set pieces, enhanced lighting and sound, and an inviting lobby/concession area.

The mission of the Raven Performing Arts Theater is to provide an inviting venue for performing arts and a vibrant center for community, educational, and public service activities.

Specifically,

To provide a long-term home for community performance groups including schools, churches, clubs, and public and private organizations.
To offer programming that encompasses a variety of professional performances including dance, acting, music, and festivals.
To provide a learning environment for children and adults, as individuals and in groups, to learn many aspects of theater operation, production, and presentation.

Short-term goals include a strong desire to expand our program offerings, upgrade the theater to enable a wider range of entertainers to perform on its stage. Longer term, we plan to convert the Raven Performing Arts Theater into a state-of-the-art performance venue, and create an endowment to sustain programming and theater maintenance.

Roustabout Theater Creative Sonoma Grantee, Dance, Education, Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Theatre, Youth Arts Education Roustabout Theater is the longest-running Resident Theater company of the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Sonoma County. Their award-winning Apprentice Program is one of the leading theatrical training and performance programs for dedicated young actors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Roustabout Theater’s mission is creating vibrant professional theater focused on bringing to life less-frequently-produced plays. Roustabout’s Apprentice Program is an unparalleled actor training program in Sonoma County highlighting the talents of the county’s most extraordinary student performers through its professionally produced productions. Roustabout also provides unique opportunities for our students through our ongoing series of Master Classes with Tony Award-winners, award-winning Broadway actors and nationally recognized Casting Directors. In addition, our Conservatory Classes provide ongoing training in acting, vocal performance, diction, dialect, movement, dance, improv and stage combat.

Santa Rosa Area Music Together Education, Music, Youth Arts Education Music connects and inspires us, deeply touching our souls. All children are born with the basic human instinct to make music. We can help our little ones realize their music potential in delightful ways -no time is too early to start! We've been bringing the award-winning, research-based Music Together curriculum to Sonoma County for seventeen years, with locations in Santa Rosa, Windsor, and Healdsburg.

Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse Adult Arts Education, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Kids/Family, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, School, Theatre, Youth Arts Education The Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse has a long history with Santa Rosa and has for over fifty years provides live theatrical entertainment for the surrounding community. The Playhouse is a venue consisting of two theaters. The GK Hardt Stage is a 184 seat theater that caters to Broadway style musicals and plays. The Monroe Stage is a more intimate Black Box three sided theater of 99 seats that features smaller comedies and dramas and is one of the most exciting venues to see a performance. The Mainstage and Black Box performances are presented throughout the year and total over 170 in one season. The 6th Street Playhouse also offers classes to adults, teens and youth interested in following the creative arts and developing theatrical skills. Over 300 students learn stage presence, song, dance, and stagecraft that includes technical sound, lighting, set design, and costume making. All students are given an opportunity to perform on either of our two public stages during a season's consisting seven student productions.

Just as the Theatre itself shines as one of the most memorable features of the Plaza, it also occupies a place in the hearts of many Sonomans. Over the past 25 years thousands of young people have performed in Witchie Poo Halloween shows, holiday shows, and Performing Arts Camps. Families cherish Roger and Diana Rhoten’s passion for the performing arts as a generator of leadership, self-confidence and creativity in their children. And going to a movie or a live performance at the Sebastiani is one of the defining experiences of life in our town. Films The Theatre has always brought the finest in film entertainment to Sonoma. With more screening areas we can do even more, bringing film series that will appeal to a variety of special interests -- films from other countries, cult classics as well as the standards, films that are “vintage” to the younger generation (Karate Kid or ET, anyone?) innovative food and film pairings, and even mini film festivals. Special Events The Sebastiani hosts many wonderful live performers, and with a new green room and an updated stage area, we can attract a great many more. Classical concerts, dance troupes, magic and cabaret, great names in literature, the arts, and politics—all will be able to bring their talents to enrich the artistic and intellectual life of Sonoma. Children’s Programs Nurturing the creativity, self-confidence, and talent of the next generation has always been the heart-felt mission of the Theatre. The Performing Arts Camp in the summer, Witchie Poo in the fall, and the holiday show in December are part of what mark the seasons in Sonoma. Generations of young people come back home to sing along with Witchie Poo; many of Sonoma’s young people have gone on to successful careers in the performing arts, and Roger and Diana Rhoten are trusted mentors to hundreds of young people who have found a second home at the Sebastiani.

Home to a variety of events, classes, and other group gatherings, Sirens is a wonderful and an important part of our community, offering people the chance to cultivate and expand their understanding and appreciation of the arts, especially dance and music. Artist and community activist TerriAnne Gutierrez established Sirens Studio in 2001 We create, produce, present, and teach; *multicultural dance *theater *music Engaging a diverse group of Sonoma County and Bay Area artists, audiences, and students. Many racially mixed, and culturally specific ensembles consider Sirens Studio & Theater their artistic home, creating a thriving inter-generational community. Originally built as the Sonoma Grammar School in 1916, the Community Center was incorporated as a public benefit 501(c)3 organization in 1952, and is listed on the National Register for Historic Places. Today, the mission of the Sonoma Community Center is to cultivate a vibrant community through extraordinary creative, cultural, and learning experiences. Driven by values of community, innovation, creativity, inclusion, and leadership, the Center offers a broad range of programs, events, and performances that encourage people from all walks of life to create, connect, thrive, and build community together. We offer over 200 classes annually in ceramics, fine art, fiber art, music, movement, culinary arts, and writing. We also host an Artist-in-Residence program that attracts expert artists to work and teach at the Center. On campus, we house and maintain valued partnerships with the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, Crescent Montessori School, the Sonoma International Film Festival, Valley of the Moon Magazine, and Sonoma Arts Live, our theater production partner. Our Andrews Hall Theater offers a year-round schedule of films, live music, theater performances, and more for audiences of all ages. We host a variety of creative community events throughout the year, including our annual Día de los Muertos celebration in early November, and our free Thanksgiving Dinner, a valued community tradition for decades now. The Center is also an integral part of the City of Sonoma’s emergency preparedness plans; we serve on the City’s Disaster Council, and serve as the Emergency Volunteer Center for the City of Sonoma during local disasters and other emergencies.

Our Mission & Vision

Sonoma Conservatory of Dance's mission is to nurture the creative spirit of our community through dance. We at SCD envision a world filled with inspired and inspiring people, developing and using their talents for good.

Our Story:

Originally Founded as Sonoma Ballet Conservatory in 1970, Patty O’Reilly reenvisioned the studio as Sonoma Conservatory of Dance in 2005 after 12 years of directing the Vallejo Ballet Conservatory, which she had founded in 1993. Under the Artistic Direction of Ms. O’Reilly, SCD continues to offer the very highest quality classical ballet and dance instruction to youth and adults.

In 2016, Sonoma Conservatory of Dance transitioned into a public benefit corporation to better serve the community of Sonoma and to more effectively fulfill its mission of providing the youth (and adults) of Sonoma Valley and beyond an opportunity to grow artistically and technically through participation in our classes and productions.

As a nonprofit, we are able to serve as many students as possible regardless of financial circumstances. Our students grow as they train together under the mentorship of an excellent artistic staff who create an outstanding classroom environment as well as high-quality performances that we share with the public, thereby enhancing each student’s sense of self-mastery.

We expose students and audiences to a mix of culture through music, and dance and our full-length productions offer a blend of classical ballet with other cultural themes. Through our performances, we provide the community with an opportunity to gather together and enjoy an inspiring, enchanting event.

The studio’s students have been accepted into the most prestigious dance programs both locally, nationally and internationally, including: American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Kaatsbaan Extreme Ballet, and Royal Ballet School of Antwerp.

Other Notable Programs Include:

Boston BalletLINES Ballet, Colorado Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Orlando Ballet, Ballet West, Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Dance, Marymount Manhattan College Dance Department, and The Royal Ballet School of London.

To date, SCD students have competed in the Genée International Ballet Competition, Youth America Grand Prix and the RAD Dance Challenge.
