Santa Rosa Photographic Society Association/Club/Group/Guild, Visual Arts Santa Rosa Photographic Society has been advancing the skills of photographers through, education, competition, and field experience for 46 years. SRPS is an informal, friendly, and welcoming club, with members at all skill levels from beginners to advanced masters. The club provides its members many opportunities to improve their photographic skills, learn new “digital darkroom” and print techniques and to participate in activities including monthly field trips, educational programs and competitions on the local, regional, and national level. We have recently added regular in-person social events which have been very popular with our members. SRPS members include extremely accomplished photographers who regularly win top honors in local and regional competitions and participate in exhibitions throughout Sonoma County and beyond. Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse Adult Arts Education, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Kids/Family, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, School, Theatre, Youth Arts Education The Santa Rosa Players DBA 6th Street Playhouse has a long history with Santa Rosa and has for over fifty years provides live theatrical entertainment for the surrounding community. The Playhouse is a venue consisting of two theaters. The GK Hardt Stage is a 184 seat theater that caters to Broadway style musicals and plays. The Monroe Stage is a more intimate Black Box three sided theater of 99 seats that features smaller comedies and dramas and is one of the most exciting venues to see a performance. The Mainstage and Black Box performances are presented throughout the year and total over 170 in one season. The 6th Street Playhouse also offers classes to adults, teens and youth interested in following the creative arts and developing theatrical skills. Over 300 students learn stage presence, song, dance, and stagecraft that includes technical sound, lighting, set design, and costume making. All students are given an opportunity to perform on either of our two public stages during a season's consisting seven student productions.

Sara Downing is a Bay Area-based photographer, working in film and digital photography for over 25 years. Her images document a span of subjects, ranging from portraits to architecture to creative abstraction. Passionate about blending genres, she introduces a variety of mediums into her sculptural photographic work, including wool, paper, glass, ceramics, wood, metal, and polymers. Her photographs are included in numerous private art collections throughout the US. Sara is a former opera singer, event planner and product designer. With this commercial experience, she brings a diverse set of skills and interests to her work. Working for corporate and private clients across the US, she has been commissioned to produce site-specific installations. Her large-scale three-dimensional artwork blends architectural forms and human constructs with imagery. With an equal love for image-making and surprising audiences, her work proposes physically immersive ways to experience photography.

Just as the Theatre itself shines as one of the most memorable features of the Plaza, it also occupies a place in the hearts of many Sonomans. Over the past 25 years thousands of young people have performed in Witchie Poo Halloween shows, holiday shows, and Performing Arts Camps. Families cherish Roger and Diana Rhoten’s passion for the performing arts as a generator of leadership, self-confidence and creativity in their children. And going to a movie or a live performance at the Sebastiani is one of the defining experiences of life in our town. Films The Theatre has always brought the finest in film entertainment to Sonoma. With more screening areas we can do even more, bringing film series that will appeal to a variety of special interests -- films from other countries, cult classics as well as the standards, films that are “vintage” to the younger generation (Karate Kid or ET, anyone?) innovative food and film pairings, and even mini film festivals. Special Events The Sebastiani hosts many wonderful live performers, and with a new green room and an updated stage area, we can attract a great many more. Classical concerts, dance troupes, magic and cabaret, great names in literature, the arts, and politics—all will be able to bring their talents to enrich the artistic and intellectual life of Sonoma. Children’s Programs Nurturing the creativity, self-confidence, and talent of the next generation has always been the heart-felt mission of the Theatre. The Performing Arts Camp in the summer, Witchie Poo in the fall, and the holiday show in December are part of what mark the seasons in Sonoma. Generations of young people come back home to sing along with Witchie Poo; many of Sonoma’s young people have gone on to successful careers in the performing arts, and Roger and Diana Rhoten are trusted mentors to hundreds of young people who have found a second home at the Sebastiani.

Seoul Sister Studio Art Gallery, Arts Council/Alliance, Business, Creative Design, Decorative Arts, Interior Design, Museum, Product/Industrial Design, Retail, Special Events About Jee: Jee Wipperfurth is the ceramist behind Seoul Sister Studio in Healdsburg, CA. She chose ceramics as her art form after a career in engineering and design, because she realized that clay is grounding. It is of the earth, and Jee’s intention is to bring the joy of that connection to the owners of her pieces. She specializes in hand carved designs that balance the orderly and the organic. About her work:

Fortunately (and unfortunately), ceramics is a highly process driven activity. There are at least six steps to make a single item, from weighing and wedging the clay to final firing, and that does not include the inactive time of waiting for the clay to get to the optimal state and checking on items to make sure they are drying properly. Porcelain is fussy and requires more attention than other clay bodies. Jee’s process includes the additional time consuming steps of carving and texturing her pieces and cleaning up those areas. Her glazing process is often meticulous. she uses color sparingly in a supportive role, so that the foci of her pieces are texture and carving. On average, a single piece will take several weeks before it is ready to be loved.

Jee has always been drawn to reductive sculpture because of its merciless process and often awe-inspiring results. Removing material in order to reveal a finished form requires deliberate actions with permanent consequences. There are no “do-overs.” Although working with clay is more forgiving than chipping away at stone, her work is reminiscent of reductive sculpture. She starts with a form, usually a functional vessel, examines the salient characteristics, and then carves away and texturize the surface to reveal a revised object that feels true to its essence. Unlike some sculpture her objects are meant to be touched and held, since utility is a core characteristic. Jee enjoys making useful objects that evoke emotion.

Delivering their unique sound of alternative blues rock, Small Hat features family members Mandy Brooks, Cosmos, and Zoz, along with various special guests. Small Hat has been awarded for their songwriting with their first EP debuting in 2018. Mandy Brooks was awarded Female Artist of the Year by the Josie Music Awards 2018, and in 2019, Small Hat was nominated in multiple categories.

With the intention to inspire and connect with their audience, Small Hat is available and enjoys playing everything from "Unplugged" intimate house concerts and Coffee Houses to full electric shows at concert halls and festivals.
