Practically born with a camera in his hand in 1949, Bill Theis started his own photography business at the age of 16 doing portrait, wedding, and commercial photography. 

Besides being employed as photojournalist for the local newspaper and high school annual, he lettered in Football, not as a player but as the team movie photographer!  During these years, Bill was living on a Texas farm where his creative side was nurtured by many abstract images of farm implements and old buildings.  His interest in photography never waned while he attended college and post-graduate school, culminating in a PhD in Physics.  He then purchased his first view camera when he moved to Ohio, where he photographed the Midwest, the Appalachian Mountains, and Canada which were complemented with annual trips west of the Rockies that began in 1966 and continue to this day.  Bill retired from Federal Civil Service and relocated to Sonoma wine country in 2011. Bill’s photographs from over 50 years of dedication to photography can be found internationally in private collections and was selected for inclusion in the permanent collection of the Shanghai Public Library.  You can still find Bill out in the wilderness getting excited by the forms he sees in nature.
