H.R. LoBue is a self-taught photographer from Northern California.

As director, make-up artist and costume designer, she is more of a presence and creative participant in her own compositions than a detached observer. LoBue was encouraged to debut at a small coffee house in 2006, securing her first art sale and establishing a reputably strong artist/client relationship. She would quickly find her way into galleries and museums, her vision appreciated by a broader audience of enthusiasts, contest panels and collectors.

Whether an individual piece or a piece of a series, LoBue’s work calmly possesses a multitude of undertones, each of which spawning an absorbing confluence of introspect. While the moods swing from soft to morose, coy to perverse, the beautiful, dreamlike subtleties teeming throughout the whole of LoBue’s work create a faceted and fantastical realm in which rational imagination trumps a collectively forged reality.

To each piece, each subject, there is a draw; a pull so unique and ambiguous that it stays with the viewer long after having seen it. This curious, lingering effect generated from LoBue’s work leads to an inquiry into a suddenly self-conscious foundation, creating almost a moral amnesia from wherein all preconceived foundations are stripped.
