Throughout her career, Lori has been fortunate to work in the health and human service field with children and families, in both direct service and management roles. As a drama therapist In therapeutic settings, Lori uses the expressive arts to promote emotional well-being with populations of diverse backgrounds, abilities and ages, providing creative opportunities for self-expression, while addressing behavioral, social and emotional challenges. Lori has been an adjunct professor teaching Creative Arts Integration in the Classroom and has taught Creative Dramatics to children and teens for over 25 years.

Since 1982, Jamie Blumenthal, MA, MT-BC has worked in hospitals, schools, nursing homes and community settings providing music therapy for clients throughout the lifespan with developmental disabilities, acute and chronic psychiatric needs, medical needs, issues of aging and hospice, grief, and loss as well as offering sessions for wellness and personal/spiritual growth.

Program description

Creative Arts Toolbox for Educators based on Standards-Based Curriculum

●     Learn ways to utilize the arts as a management tool for redirecting behaviors

●     Incorporate creative arts activities into classroom lessons

●     Storytelling/Story Dramatization activities to promote and develop communication skills in language arts

●     Rhythm Games to enhance listening skills, develop attention and concentration

●     Using music and song lyrics to understand history

●     Expression through Visual Arts

●     Creative movement for kinesthetic learning and development of motor skills

●     Integrate music, theater games, storytelling, poetry, movement, team-building and interactive games into daily classroom lessons and activities

●     Improve/encourage teamwork and cooperation through creative arts activities

●     How to adapt lessons through the arts that address multiple intelligences and diverse cultures

Teacher Workshops/Training can be in-person or virtual.

Learn how to integrate inclusive creative arts experiences into the classroom and provide experiential learning opportunities to make curriculum and units come alive.

Discover new ways to reach, teach, stimulate, engage and encourage students through interactive, creative learning activities  that are inclusive and can be adapted to all learning styles. Provide opportunities for self-expression, creativity and spontaneity that highlight individual strengths and talents.
