The 90-minute program explores music from the 17th to the 21st centuries and features the virtual world premiere of Santa Rosa Symphony youth ensembles alumnus Michael Murrin’s “Fuel of the Soul,” written for the postponed 60th anniversary concert.
Collaborating online, the young musicians prepared for and recorded their individual parts, which have been expertly stitched together for a chamber concert recording. Murrin’s Fuel of the Soul is the most ambitious piece in the program with 26 brass and percussion musicians.
Represented in the program are: Italian Baroque composers Francesco Gasparini, Arcangelo Corelli and Antonio Vivaldi; German Baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann; Classical composers Leopold Mozart (the father) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (the son) and Joseph Haydn; 19th-century Irish-American Swan Hennessey and German Ernst Kummer; 20th-century Brazilian composer Heitor Villa Lobos and Murrin.
