Intermediate to Advanced Ceramic Wheel Class

Intermediate to Advanced Ceramic Wheel Class

at Sebastopol Center for the Arts

DATES: Wednesdays and Fridays from August 17 - September 2, 2022

TIME: 6:30PM- 9:30PM

This intermediate to advanced class will be for students who already know the basic skills on the potter’s wheel.

We will make a variety of wheel thrown forms on which we will attach handles, spouts or lids.

The instructor will demonstrate several techniques and styles of these additions with the goal of creating more complex and expressive utilitarian pots for daily use.

Lidded jars, pitchers, and teapots will be our focus.

The 6 classes in this session will be about making the pots, but all finished work will be bisque fired and the student can make arrangements to glaze their work to be fired to completion.

About the Instructor:

Rod Guyer learned Pottery during his four year full time studies as an Art Education major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. 1967-1971 He has a BFA Degree in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute - 1985 and an MFA Degree (Summa Cum Laude) in Ceramics from Boston University - 1987
