Experiments and Techniques in Mixed Media Painting

Presented by Art of Nature and Sebastopol Center for the Arts at Sebastopol Center for the Arts

May Session: Experiments and Techniques in Mixed Media Painting
With just the right blend of structure and play with an attitude of openness that encourages creative freedom we will play with a plethora of materials. If you are a sensory person like I am you will so enjoy the feelings of silk on your fingers, the texture of ashes, the colors of the acrylic and inks, the watery pour of ink.

Ages 10 through one hundred are welcome!

Students will receive practical techniques on how to use mixed media tools and techniques and receive the opportunity to play with a variety of materials.

Participants will also be exposed to inspiring artworks and learn some of the key recipe’s in these inspirational works of art.

For the last few years, Amanda Hopkins has been obsessed with highlighting the intricate textures found in plants, to do this she’s experimented with adhesives, paints, varnishes, acrylic medium, rice paper and more.

Materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own materials; specific techniques will require specific materials, please contact Amanda 2 weeks in advance for a materials list if you wish to bring your own: artistamandarose@gmail.com

Feel free to come with ideas of what kind of effects you would like to create in your painting.
