This exhibit highlights artistic attempts to deal with our ongoing issue of plastic proliferation. Artists from Sonoma, Mendocino, and Bay Area counties were invited to repurpose plastic detritus into art objects.
Co-curated by Mirka Knaster of The Sea Ranch and Paula J. Haymond of Anchor Bay, You Made That Out of Plastic? Turning Trash into Treasures is an exhibit that aesthetically, even humorously, addresses the ugly problem of plastic waste and the devastating consequences to the environment and its creatures. Collecting found pieces of plastic on beaches and streets as well as what shows up in our homes and offices, 19 artists from the greater Bay Area and Mendonoma Coast have created objects that intrigue, provoke, amuse, educate, and inspire us to rethink our own consumption habits.
