Eco Printing is a stunning dye technique that is true to its name. It is environmentally friendly and works like a dye print in which the image and energy of the dye plants are transferred directly to the textile. You’ll learn to work with wild harvested plant materials (leaves, flowers, bark, etc.) to eco print in a beautiful and expressive way. We’ll use this magical technique to make living, breathing textiles that have personal meaning and are deeply connected to the places we each call home. You’ll finish class with a silky merino loop scarf of your own design, and a couple of pure silk pieces that can be worn as scarves or used around your home as an altar cloth, etc.

We will have a potluck lunch, giving everyone time to socialize with the instructor and fellow students.

About the instructors: The Moon is the Slow Fashion boutique and design studio of Cassidy Wright and Cory Gunter Brown. Our garments are living, breathing, feminine creations made from natural fibers and dyed by hand with natural plant dyes; leaves, bark, roots, flowers, and extracts. Each piece is imprinted with the scents, energy, and often the images of the plants themselves. Cassidy and Cory are Oakland/East Bay natives, daughters of artists and longtime family friends who share a love of hand work, adornment, and the natural world. About the location: West County Fiber Arts is the studio of felt artist Heidi Harris, on a beautiful 1-acre property in rural Sonoma County, California. Classes will take place both indoors and in the garden.
