Join us the day the before Mother’s Day!
In this hands-on workshop at West County Fiber Arts you will learn the process of making a felt rug: preparing the wool (picking & carding), layout, felting, fulling and trimming the surface to finish your creation. We use 100% local wool. Using natural or colored roving, you may add color and texture to create a rug that will be the center of attention in any room. For this project you will use about one pound of wool and learn the techniques to create this very strong, warm, non-woven cloth that is created by matting, condensing and pressing the fibers. It is labor intensive, but you will love the end result. All materials are included, but you may bring any special yarns, locks or roving of your choice to further embellish your rug.
We will have a potluck lunch, giving everyone time to socialize with the instructor and fellow students.
