RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITY: The Growlery SF 2019 Residency

The Growlery residency is open to visual artists and performance artists. Both mature and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Applications will be reviewed by a panel and artists will be notified within 30 days if they have moved on to the second round.

APPLICATION DEADLINES FOR 2019 RESIDENCIES: July 15, 2018

COLLABORATION: If you are applying with a collaborative team please include information for all collaborators in one application (We can accommodate up to 4 collaborators/3 in separate bedrooms.)

PETS: No pets are allowed at The Growlery.

SMOKING: Smoking is not permitted inside The Growlery.

NOISE: This is a community household, and while artists should not expect complete silence, they are expected to maintain a respectful volume and wear headphones when listening to music in common spaces.

GUESTS: Residents are welcome to have overnight guests for up to 4 days in a given month. Residents are responsible for their guests and are expected to accompany their guests while they are in the house.

FACILITIES: The Growlery is centrally located in San Francisco:
1 block from a commercial corridor including grocery stores, coffee shops, and restaurants
Close to public transit (Muni busses going downtown and to the beach!)
Walking distance to Golden Gate Park

Each resident is offered a private bedroom of at least 150 sq feet and a shared bath. There is a shared studio space in the basement, but many artists choose to work in other areas of the house. We have tools for communal use (list available on request).

Housing is free and includes WIFI internet, laundry facilities, and a communal kitchen. Artists are responsible for their own food.

BUDGET: Each residency comes with a materials budget: $250 for a one month residency and $500 for a 2-3 month residency.
