Join Creative Sonoma and the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts for this Forum on AB5, the California law that establishes the new ABC test for whether a worker should be classified as an independent contractor or employee.
In discussion with our panelists, we will address some of the ways local teaching artists, independent contractors, and organizations have responded and/or adapted to the law, answer your questions, and also discuss ways that we can share our stories with state lawmakers to advocate for further exemptions for the creative industry.
PANELISTS:
Julie Baker, Executive Director, Californians for the Arts and California Arts Advocates
Attorney Lisa Ann Hilario, Spaulding, McCullough & Tansil, LLP (and LBC Board Member)
Attorney Daryl Reese, Johnston | Thomas, Attorneys at Law, PC
Ashleigh Worley, Director of Education and Community Engagement, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts
WHEN: Thursday, February 6, 2020, 6:00-7:30pm
WHERE: Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, Schwing Salon (formerly the Fireside Room), 50 W Mark Springs Road, Santa Rosa
If you or your organization has not already done so, please fill out our anonymous and brief 4-question survey on your understanding of the law and its potential impacts on you (as an independent contractor), or on your organization or business. This will help us to customize the content of the Forum.
