Teaching Artist (Part-time)
Art4Kids Youth Education Program

The Art4Kids Youth Education Program has been bringing arts education to 5th and 6th grade classrooms in low income Santa Rosa schools since 2015. Our lessons are developed around the most recent, CA art education standards, and our teachers and docents use VTS (Visual Thinking Strategies) to engage students with the museum exhibitions. Lesson plans inspired by the current art exhibition at our museum are provided to our team of Art4Kids teachers. Just because we provide the curriculum doesn’t mean we don’t want your creativity! We encourage our teachers to take what we provide and make it their own.

Who we are looking for: An enthusiastic and open minded art teacher with a strong
background in visual arts and experience working with children. A degree in studio art and
previous art teaching experience are preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Compensation: $35 per hr. Each class totals about 5.5 hour of teaching time with up to 5 hours of paid prep time. Supplies are provided. On average our teachers teach between 2-6 classes per season.

This is a contract teaching position. Upon offer, applicants will be required to pass a
background check and provide proof of finger prints on file with the state of CA.

Spring 2020 Season: February 24th through May 29th

To Apply: Email resume with cover letter to Laura Leipzig at lcleipzig@museumsc.org. If
available, please include links to your website or social media, with samples of your own
artwork and/or work as a teacher. Applications received after Friday, January 17th will not be considered for the Spring 20 season.

Art4Kids is generously funded by the Community Foundation of Sonoma County and
