 Petaluma, CA, Unknown

The Petaluma Public Art Committee is calling Sonoma County artists to respond to the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement and take part in creating a collaborative mural in Petaluma.

Sixteen artists and/or art collectives will be awarded a stipend to paint a collaborative BLACK LIVES MATTER temporary street mural on Fairgrounds Drive in front of the Petaluma Public Library. Each artist will be commissioned to paint an individual letter in their own style. Black artists and artists of color are strongly encouraged to apply and artists and muralists from Sonoma County are particularly encouraged to apply.

The call is open to all artists and creative professionals. Artists under the age of 18 must have an adult sponsor to sign the artist agreement if they are awarded the project. A small selection panel of diverse community representatives will select 16 artists and 5 alternates for the project.

Selected artists will receive a stipend of $800 each and be responsible for supplying their own approved paint and materials. Selected artists will be asked to submit a concept sketch before the installation date. We ask that artists avoid using branded logos, foul language, and any content not appropriate for families.

HOW TO APPLY:
Submit your application at petalumapublicart.slideroom.com. As part of your application, please provide a brief statement explaining your interest in creating the mural and up to 5 examples of previous artwork.

Hurry! The application deadline is Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 9:00 pm (PST).
