The California Civil Liberties Public Education Program (California Civil Liberties Program) is a state-funded grant project to sponsor public educational activities and development of educational materials to ensure that the events surrounding the exclusion, forced removal, and internment of civilians and permanent resident aliens of Japanese ancestry will be remembered so that the causes and circumstance of this and similar events may be illuminated and understood.

This is a competitive grant program for nonprofits and units of state and local government involved in various civic, educational and artistic projects for the public on the subject of civil liberties. Funded projects will provide the public with information and comparisons to the civil-liberty violations experienced by Japanese Americans during WWII. The program is fulfilled by the California State Library.

There are two funding levels: Major Preservation/Public Media projects ($150,000 max request) and Community Projects ($40,000 max request).
