Open Call for Grant Review Panelists

California’s people are its most treasured resource. A diverse panel pool ensures the integrity of our grant review process for all applicants, representative of our state’s racial, ethnic, and gender identities; eclectic geography; and wealth of organizations, perspectives, and knowledge.

Gain insight into grantmaking and lend your voice to the process by joining a grant application review panel. We’re looking for artists, cultural practitioners and arts field professionals of all disciplines with experience in:

  • arts learning for youth
  • creative placemaking/ placekeeping
  • cultural development
  • juvenile and social justice
  • nonprofit management
  • arts programming for veteran populations and people with disabilities
  • other relevant lines of work

How it works
Prior to the grant review panel convening, panelists will attend online trainings to discuss the panel overview and logistics, including an introduction of the applications to be reviewed, steps to evaluate and rank applications, and instructions on using the electronic grants management system. Panelists will then independently review assigned applications online. Rankings are brought before the California Arts Council body to inform funding decisions.

Support
Panelists receive a $100 honorarium for each day of the virtual panel meeting. Panel meetings run approximately 1-3 days.

Apply now
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications submitted may be considered for either Grant Cycle A or Grant Cycle B review panels in 2022. Panelists selected to serve during the 2022 grant season will be contacted by CAC staff between March and July.
