VIVO YOUTH ORCHESTRAS - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION
ViVO Youth Orchestras (ViVO) is searching for an Executive Director to lead the organization through the next chapter of its growth.
ViVO is an El Sistema-inspired after school music program with a mission to change lives through music. Based within the Sonoma Valley Unified School District in Sonoma, California, the program is open to K-12 students from all Sonoma Valley schools with a focus on the most vulnerable students.

Through fostering safe relationships, developing mastery in music and building community, ViVO builds life skills in students and inspires them to believe that everyone has the power to change their life and succeed.

The Executive Director (ED) serves at the sole discretion of the board. In that capacity, the ED is responsible for the overall daily operations of the organization; ensuring safety of our students; monitoring the quality and effectiveness of the programs; attending to fiscal health of the organization; cultivating community awareness and relationships; developing strategies for growth, and securing resources necessary to achieve our mission in accordance with our values. Duties are supported by the staff, board or volunteers as appropriate and maintaining healthy working relationships between these stakeholders is a key component.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Board
➢ Serve as a primary staff liaison to the board of directors. Meet regularly with the board chair, the officers, and committees (if /when applicable).
➢ Collaborate with the board chair to develop annual budget and plans for Vivo – the board chair is responsible for individual follow ups on progress.
➢ Collaborate with board members to cultivate relationships with individual, business and potential partner organizations.
➢ Collaborate with the chair and an appropriate committee to identify and cultivate potential new board members.
➢ Present quarterly written board reports.

Leadership & Program
➢ Create and model inclusive organizational leadership, management and communication practices.
➢ Create and foster resilient, respectful, collaborative and inclusive organizational culture that is aligned with our mission and values.
➢ Develop staffing plan and participate in recruitment, onboarding and other hiring processes or delegate as appropriate.
➢ Provide training, mentorship, inspiration, coaching and evaluation to the staff / leadership team.
➢ Work with Artistic Director to develop and implement curriculum, performance schedule, and evaluation benchmarks for the program.
➢ Develop and manage marketing and communication campaigns – delegate as appropriate.
➢ Assume appropriate leadership roles at performances and cultivation events.

Finance, Accounting & HR
➢ Maintain fiscal health of the organization in collaboration with the Treasurer and finance manager / accountant through building budgets, generating and reviewing monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheets and other fiscal reports.
➢ Manage relationship with an accounting firm and ensure that proper accounting practices are followed.
➢ Meet monthly with the Treasurer to review financials.
➢ Manage relationships with payroll vendor and work with a consultant to establish and maintain HR policies and best practices.
➢ Recommend annual budget for Board approval and manage resources with budget guidelines.

Fundraising
➢ Develop and implement targeted fundraising plan.
➢ Work with the Board Chair to set and manage fundraising functions of the board.
➢ Meet individually with major donors or other prospective donors as requested by the Board.
➢ Review foundation portfolio and work with a grant writer to expand a list of prospective funders.
➢ Contribute to grant applications with a focus on pedagogy, objectives, equity and other areas that are particular strengths of the ED.

Partnerships
➢ Establish and maintain relationships with educational, social impact, arts and other organizations to raise visibility of ViVO.
➢ Participate in national, regional and local arts and youth development events with peer organizations.
➢ Maintain relationships with El Sistema USA network and leverage learning and resources of the network. Work with SVUSD and school principals and staff to coordinate curriculum and secure sufficient program space for program operations.
