Sonoma Valley Museum of Art is currently seeking Teaching Artists for our Art Rewards The Student (A.R.T.S.) program.

The A.R.T.S. Teaching Artists are seasonal part-time contractors, responsible for developing lesson plans and providing 24 to 30 hours of art instruction to 4th and 5th grade students in Sonoma Elementary classrooms. Teaching Artists attend meetings (3 minimum) with museum staff, participate in and occasionally lead professional development workshops (2 minimum), and assist with the installation of the annual A.R.T.S. exhibition at SVMA.

Minimum qualifications:    

At least 3 years experience teaching art in a formal elementary classroom setting and comfortable working with 25+ students at a time.
Proficient with a variety of media and techniques appropriate for 4th- and 5th-grade students.

Pays close attention to details and consistently meets deadlines.  
Excellent organizational skills/personal communication (+phone and email) with classroom teachers, school principals, museum staff and fellow teaching artists.
Bilingual in English and Spanish a huge plus, but not required.
