The concept of irreality emphasizes not just the ‘not real’ but some form of estrangement from our generally accepted sense of reality.

So, what is reality? What is irreality?

Please submit artworks which address your sense of irreality, particularly in light of the past year and how perceptions of reality have changed to irreality since the 2016 election.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS

• All artists 18 and over currently residing in the greater Bay Area region are eligible to apply.
• 2D and 3D works measuring less than 48 inches in any dimension; please include medium, dimensions, title and any relevant installation information with your submission.
• Entry fee of $30 must be paid with the completion of any and all applications, artists can submit up to 6 images.

SUBMISSIONS AND DELIVERY

• Application submissions are due by midnight September 15, 2017.
• Artists will receieve acceptance notifications no later than 5pm Monday September 18, 2017.
• All artwork must be delivered to ArtVale Gallery by Monday September 25, 2017.

All artwork must be for sale. Artist’s will receive 60% of the retail, ArtVale has a 40% commission rate of all artwork sold. Artists will receive payments via PayPal or check within 60 days of the close of the exhibition.

Opening Reception/Opening Weekend: Friday September 29th 6-9pm; opening reception followed by a special pop up appearance during the 2 day 10th anniversary of East Oakland’s own Oaktoberfest 2017! Saturday September 30th 11-7pm, and Sunday October 1st 10-5pm.
