WTAW is looking for a few special people to join the team.

We're looking for highly self-motivated people who are interested in nonprofit communications, marketing, community relations, audience development, literature, literary community building, and or literary publishing. We at WTAW are all writers and welcome other writers with the applicable skill sets. We welcome creative thinking and appreciate those who want to participate in and expand literary citizenship. We’re very motivated to hire team members who are representative of different and diverse backgrounds and experiences, including but not limited to diversity of ethnicity, gender, culture, sexual orientation, and socioeconomics.

All positions  

  • Are part-time internships and require that you use your own computer to complete tasks remotely.
  • While the internships are unpaid, we are pleased to assist with helping you obtain college credit if that is an option.
  • Involve 10-20 hours of work per week.
  • Require creative self-starters comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration, and who are flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks as they arise.

SOCIAL MEDIA AND CONTENT EDITOR

This position requires familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. the schedule is flexible but requires a daily allotment of time to respond appropriately to keep timely communication going. Experience in graphic design and familiarity with image-editing programs such as in order to create simple but appealing images on the fly is a plus.

WEBMASTER

This intern will update the Why There Are Words website monthly, and update the WTAW Press website occasionally and regularly. A demonstrated knowledge of Wordpress is necessary.

PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT

This intern will update the Why There Are Words website monthly, and update the WTAW Press website occasionally and regularly. A demonstrated knowledge of Wordpress is necessary.

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT

This intern will be a well-read, thoughtful, and sensitive reader able to help with submissions and assist in editorial tasks such helping to create jacket copy and related materials.

DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT

This intern will assist with organizational growth through community outreach and fundraising. The position will report to the development director, and a specific task list will be posted in the coming days to address the director’s strategy for WTAW, which is currently being laid out.
