COVID-19 UPDATES & INFORMATION

Our Response to COVID-19 :

Just as we were bouncing back from the flooding of our main building, the celebrations, concerts, dances, civic events, community meetings, and classes that make the SCCC wonderful became dangerous due to Covid-19.  After the shelter in place order we closed our three sites and laid off our staff and our volunteer board has been managing the center.  We are doing our best to protect our reserve funds so we will be able to fully reopen.   We did receive the Payroll Protection funds and used them to keep some staff in place for a bit longer, and to create safety protocols, and to start rebuilding our web site.  We have been able to make the hall available for several important events such as the blood drive, the Grav and Go event to support Farm Trails, and to be the in person voting site for the upcoming election.  It has been difficult to offer classes due to the extra costs necessary to keep everyone safe and so we are very excited by the possibilities this grant creates.  In addition the smoke and fire events have repeatedly forced us to cancel outdoor events.
