Student Arts Spotlight

Student Arts Spotlight shares the good news of the arts making a difference in students’ lives in a monthly feature. The Sonoma County Arts Education Alliance is pleased to share Petaluma City Schools’ District Arts Showcase. The event featured over 800 pieces of student art work, performances by high school jazz ensembles, the robotics program, and the culinary program. It was an evening for families to celebrate their creative students! Congratulations, Petaluma City Schools!

AEA Continues to Make Impact! School Year 2022-23

The collective of the Sonoma County Arts Education Alliance has much to show for the 2022-23 school year. DunbARTS Is Recognized by EdSource “Building Confidence and Resiliency Through the Arts”

Kimzin Creative and Sonoma Community Center partnered with Dunbar Elementary in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District to provide students with lessons emphasizing creativity and self-expression taught by local artists. Learn more in this Edutopia video or read the Edutopia article.

Sonoma State University Prepares Pre-Service Elementary Teachers to Use the Arts

Future elementary school teachers learn about how to infuse arts into their lessons to create exciting, vibrant, and meaningful learning. At Sonoma State University, understanding and implementing arts learning and arts integration is a focus of the teacher prep program through the class “Teaching Science and the Arts in the Elementary School.”
