Program description

OVERVIEW

Relief printmaking is the process of carving out areas from a flat piece of wood, linoleum or soft rubber to create an image that will be inked and transferred to paper. Small gouges are used to carve away the negative areas (white spaces) of an image leaving the positive areas (the picture) on the surface of the wood, linoleum or rubber. Ink is then applied with a roller to the surface.
