Three noted documentary works from award-winning filmmaker Pratibha Parmar are slated for a day-long special cinema event, featuring live appearances by the filmmaker, and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Walker, on Saturday, June 3 at the Sebastiani Theatre.
The Parmar showcase for this special cinema event includes her films A Place of Rage (1991), Warrior Marks (1993), and Alice Walker: Beauty In Truth (2013). In addition to these films, at timed screenings throughout the day, Parmar will be recognized with the SIFF | MUSEA Center Women In Film award which is accompanied by a $5,000 grant. A special, limited-capacity private reception with Parmar and Walker is also scheduled.
