PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Reimagining the Orchestra Through SEL

Join us for our free professional learning webinar series about embedding social emotional learning into the music classroom. The next episode is on March 9th (registration required).

The symphony orchestra has long been associated with musical tradition and excellence; however, it has not always provided a space where everyone feels welcomed. Conductor Jonathan Taylor Rush and Senior Associate Director of the Ravinia Festival’s Reach Teach Play education programs, Isaac Sinnett, will discuss how to broaden the orchestral model so more people, especially underrepresented populations, can feel a sense of belonging in this space. They will share and discuss models for making these social and emotional outcomes intentional, embedded, and sustained routines and learning community practices.

Webinars are free to attend and tailored for music educators but are also relevant for student musicians, parents and families, as well as music education advocates. A certificate of hours for professional development participation will be made available for attendees after each session. Learn more about the webinar series and watch past episodes on demand!
